Chapter 10
“A Snake” I whispered, awestruck.
“A what?” a masculine voice asked behind me, making me quickly turn towards them, recognizing the source of the voice as Cameron.
“Nothing” I quickly said, my heart beating rapidly.
“Are you sure?” He asked, a little too quickly for my taste, I shrugged and walked into with him.
Once inside, I hesitated, but then asked him “Cameron, when was this house made?”
He got startled at my question, but then calmly replied “About 17th Century, my great-times 5-grandfather’s house, but we refurbished it a couple of years ago”
I gasped.
That was around the same time when the King…
“Actually, he used to be the king of this valley” Cameron added smugly.
I gulped.
This cannot be a coincidence now, can it?
“My grandparents always said that I looked like the King’s younger son, actually” He continued, smirking, when suddenly my thoughts halted.
I breathed.
All of my dreams swayed back into my mind.
His blue eyes, his brown hair, his jaws, the furniture, the mansion…
The big field!
Beads of sweat coated my skin, heating my body as I felt as if the room shrank. What if everything strange that was happening was because the prophecy was coming true?
‘Be careful with the people you are befriending dearie’
The professor’s voice once again rang in my voice.
Should Cameron be trusted?
I gulped.
“Olivia is everything alright?” He asked worriedly,
I managed to create a calm façade, when an idea popped in my head.
“We are having outdoor class today” I explained, “For History”
Once out of the house, my memories invaded me, as I remembered dreaming about the empty field where the Prince and the girl had stopped in my dream.
How could I have not remembered?
I passed it every weekend!
“So where are we going?” Cameron asked as we strapped ourselves in his car.
“Follow my directions and you’ll see” I smiled.
We drove for half an hour when we reached the empty field. I frowned as I left the car, looking at the empty field.
“What exactly is here that is linked with history?” Cameron asked in mock confusion.
“This” I instinctively said, pulling his arm as we walked out of the road, into the field.
Déjà vu
I did exactly what the girl did in my dream, and just as I had instinctively suspected, there was a deserted house in the middle of the field.
I gasped as I saw it, it was just what I had seen in the dream!
I looked at Cameron, but he wasn’t as surprised as I had hoped he would be.
In fact, he wasn’t surprised at all.
“You know, Olivia, you took less time to put the pieces together than your ancestor” he replied smugly, his sweet smile fading into a sinister one, while his warm blue eyes became cold, loathing.
No.
“Cameron…” I gasped, while he walked closer to me,
“I’ll have to say, I’m so glad that you finally grasped all your dreams and made use of them, helping me find this place after centuries of searching” he continued, staring at the mansion in front of us in slight amazement.
“You bastard” I spat, looking at him in disgust, “I thought you..”
“What was I, Olivia?” he interrupted, “Sweet, charming Cameron who is failing classes?” he scoffed, looking at my reaction.
I stood perplexed.
“Father was sort of smart in making you tutor me, he thought the closer you were to me, the easier it would be to let your subconscious mind trigger your ancestor’s memories” he walked closer to me, “And it did” he whispered, merely an inch from me. He looked at me for my response.
I stood perplexed.
“Look at me Olivia, my eyes, my nose, my hair; doesn’t it remind you of something?” he pleaded. I hesitated at first, but then slowly shifted my gaze towards him.
I stood perplexed.
Of course! He resembled the prince I used to dream about!
I walked a step away from Cameron, trying to perceive my surroundings and try to understand what was going on, so I started with the logical questioning.
“Why did you get me here?” I asked, rather weakly.
“Oh, sweetheart, you are the one who brought us here, not me” he explained smugly.
“Why do you want me here?” I asked angrily, pulling at my long sleeves of my shirt and crossing my arms.
“Now that is definitely a better adjustment of your question” he commented impressively, “I want you here so you could help me uncover the truth” he explained vaguely.
“About?” I asked impatiently
“The Anguis Curse, of course!” he shouted, as if it was the most obvious thing to occur.
I looked at him in confusion.
He sighed.
“You probably know it as the story about the Babylonian time, when-“
I interrupted, “About the snake God being trapped in purgatory?”
“Yes” he replied, “Thank Goodness you already know-, wait, how exactly do you know that?” He asked, when something broiled in the pit of my stomach,
Should I tell him?
Should I not tell him?
This was filling my brain as if I was plucking petals off of a flower in a ‘does he like me’ scenario,
But this isn’t the case
“None of you business” I replied smugly, finally gaining the upper hand.
“Cut the bull, Olivia” Cameron groaned, “You can’t hide a secret, I know you can’t” he told me, nearing towards me.
“How well do you know me, Cameron?” I scoffed, crossing my arms.
He sighed, “Olivia Michaelson, A+ student, good girl, has a little brother, loves her family, loves reading, loves ‘The Cab’ and plays the guitar her uncle taught her to play, loves homework and always wished she would be a good dancer. Also is very insecure about herself and loves singing when alone” he concluded, while I looked at him in shock, but then quickly created a nonchalant façade on my face.
“Apparently, I am the one who doesn’t know you at all” I said weakly, when suddenly, the craziest thing happened.
His expressions softened.
“Actually, apart from my mother, you are the only other person who knows me well” he suddenly spoke up, innocence filling his voice.
My stomach made a back flip at how innocent and cute he looked at the moment.
Ignoring my thoughts, I looked at him in shock, “Are you bipolar?” I shouted, throwing my hands up in the air.
“No, but I am” a very familiar voice said from behind me, but before I could decipher who the source of the voice was, I was knocked out cold, my body hitting the ground with a thud.
