Mark found a hat in his bag and slapped it on my head. It covered my green hair and didn't look to bad. I looked as tough as I could.
A tough looking guard eyed us "I've never seen you before." Mark cleared his throat "He's my brother. He got shot in the first battle."
The guard let us in. He lead to to a room with two other people "The highest rank soldiers get better stuff."
He whispered to me.When we got in I saw someone sitting on the bottom of a bunked bed. He was crying...? Mark cleared his throat "Felix. I'm back."
The boy named Felix snapped his head up. He was blond with blue eyes, but kinda scrawny. Mark nugged me "He's Swedish. We made a pact with them, so some of em joined our side. Neat eh?"
I nodded, even though my insides twisted. I reminded myself I was no longer on the Irish side. Felix looked at me with hostility "Who's he?"
Mark grinned " This is Jack. He got shot so I took him with me." Felix sighed "How do we know we can trust you?"
I smiled "Mark saved me. I would feel awfully guilty if I shot yah." Felix shrugged "Good enough." I laughed. I think I would be happy here.
Suddenly the door opened. In came a boy with a mask on. He had brown hair with a long curl, but other than that was the only part of his head I could see.
Felix jumped up and threw his arms around him. "Cry!!" He sobbed "I though you were..." Cry shhsed him "I'm ok, don't worry."
Cry introduced himself. He said he never took off his mask. He seemed pretty cool. In a few hours we would go to the mess hall for dinner "In the mean time greenie, let's patch up your leg then see how good you can shoot.
Cry and Mark decided to fix my leg because they didn't want to send me to the hospital wing. I guess they were afraid of me being recognized or something.
It was horrible. They cut off my pant leg above the wound. They got a rusty pair of scissors and stuck it in the bullet hole. It felt like my whole leg was on fire. Mark worked on getting the bullet out, Cry held down my leg and Felix put his hands over my mouth so I couldn't be heard screaming. Mark managed to get the bullet out, but not before accidentally doing some major damage to my leg. The wound was red and swollen. It was bleeding so much I was struggling not to pass out.
Cry helped wrapped my leg in a bandages. Finally we got outside. Felix gave me a brand new gun and Mark set up a little shooting practice things with scrap wood and old dented bean cans.
I held up the gun and propped it on my shoulder and aimed. I shoot and missed. Mark shook his head "What the hell was that greenie? You were a mile off! Here,I'll help you."
Mark stood close to me and adjusted it on my shoulder. He whispered in my ear "ok...aim... fire!"
I pulled the trigger and the bullet hit the bean can. Except it bounced off and hit me in the face.Mark,Cry, and Felix stared down at me. I was in shock for a moment. Then I started laughing. Everyone laughed along. Felix pulled me up and we all went to the mess hall.
