Racism is mad weird. Vic could not stand it no more, he thought he might go back to being full crazy again, his brain felt wild! Vic opened the window and shouted at the starless Chicago sky line:
"FUCKING DISGUSTING. THESE POLICE ARE NOT HERE TO PROTECT US. DO NOT CALL THEM. THAT IS DEATH SENTENCE FOR YOUR FAMILY!" But Vic would use his voice, for sure, and no matter what. He would not let black people survive these times and this trauma in isolation, no way.
Sometimes, Vic imagined black people and white people living equally in America, imagined people being so blinded by their race that could not see the flaws in. But this utopian view of society was so far away. Black people as a whole will never be treated equally in America. America has branded throughout the world that black people in America are bad people, untrustworthy people. It is a 300 year marketing plan that is still in motion. Furthermore, blacks have been unfairly targeted by criminal justice system and put in constant state of second class citizenship. Vic wanted to put the record straight, black people are not just born criminals, but humans like anyone else. It is the duty of all people, especially white people, that recognize equality as the truth to teach these around them. He could not get how white people even manage to feel discriminated against...
Vic could not fall asleep that night. He has not forgotten and will continue fighting for justice, for his people. To him, this is completely intertwined with slavery, with the civil rights movement, with mass incarceration right now. This was just another incarnation of systematic destruction of the black body.
Next day he headed off to the studio and started composing some verses. Hope. There is always hope. We hold the power in our hands. Vic wanted to call all his people to get together and fight if they were going to make things right, because this was not the end, there was a lot going on. The weight of the world will give us the strength to go.
