So far this week I've been able to update a chapter for most of my work. I'm happy that I'm getting to chapter five in this! XD

Bands I find inspiration for this book so far:  Skillet, Chevelle, Flyleaf, Apocalyptica, Breaking Benjamin, Red, Within Temptation, Evanescence, and Tarja Turnen (former lead singer in Nightwish)

---------------------------------------------------------------

Standing still as the earth groans,

The trees of life stretch heavenward with hands open wide.

Their colors ready to receive their fluorescent shade,

Only to be denied by the death grip of winter kiss.

Yet, when spring returns it will fight off the chill on the land.

Emerald waves will dance with the breeze and create a harmony unlike another.

Just as vibrant as unripe fruit yet still appealing to the eye,

The color that will represent a new born life.

One that holds protection from fears and anxieties,

One with pride of knowing that safety will embrace you.

And thus the grass will grow far and wide,

As the earth groans no more.

The taste of bitter sweetness invades my sense as I let the tantalizing flavor dance along the sensitive buds of my tongue. In my hand, I held a fruit known as an apple rested against my palm as I took another bite. It had odd taste, seeing how it reflected my mood today. Even though I didn't practically like sweet things, it preoccupied my grumbling stomach for now.

At least I had one thing under control.

My mind though, was another matter.

Instead being interesting in what I was eating, it kept drifting back to the words my angel had spoken last night. Usually, he loved to talk riddles or things of nonsense that always felt usually to me. Yet tonight, it had been one of those rare occasions we had a coherent conversation. Well, almost.

In a way, he just stated things I already knew. The words "The world outside is a cruel place," was something I already knew before I even arrived at this nameless mental hospital. It didn't take a rocket scientist to see how unfair things could be, or how it loved to make a mockery of certain lives of others.

I found out the hard way.

"You seem distracted." A high, soprano quality voice says across from me, jerking me back to reality as I find Nancy's sweet brown eyes staring at me in questioning. Though I was able to hear her voice in the background of my thoughts, I hadn't truly been listening enough to hear what words she had spoken.
