"Hello," Alex said as he sat beside Sam after walking through the bus with everyone eyeing him. He didn't make himself too comfortable so he wouldn't be getting too close.

"Hi Alex, how are you?" She said with a voice that held a spark of excitement. It seemed that Alex wasn't the only excited one.

"I'm alright, what about you?" Alex asked, watching her put down the poetry book she was holding. He smirked as he tried to remember what made him think the book cover was familiar.

"I'm fine," She replied shortly with a soft smile on her face. Alex wasn't really planning on having a long conversation because they didn't know each other at all, they barely talked sometimes at work. Little did he know he'll remember this conversation for the rest of his life.

He took a deep breath, tilting his head to look at her as she stares at the window. Long dark smooth hair draped over shoulders, glimmering in the sun and the bold black frame of her glasses outlining her brown orbs. She looked like a portrait; Alex wished he had known how to draw.

"Alex, can I ask a question?" She averted her attention from the window and looked straight into his eyes.

"Yes, definitely." He said with a welcoming tone, looking away from her deep brown eyes. Not only because he felt mesmerized by them, but also because his social anxiety always stood in the way of him eye-contacting with people.

"I've seen you holding this poetry book once, do you like reading poetry?" She said in a whisper, eyes switching between Alex and the seats around them in a nervous gesture.

"Oh god, yes!" Alex squealed, causing all the eyes to turn to him. He mumbled an apology before turning back to Sam, who received him with a chuckle.

"You see, I was talking to the girls the other day about poetry and they all had their jaws hanging low as if I was talking about stealing my folder," She explained with a giggle, rolling her eyes.

"You don't know what happened last year in the South, do you?"

She shook her head with a questioning look that invaded her attractive features.

"Let me tell you the story." Alex said, swallowing down as the events of the story flashed in the back of his mind.
