Castiel smiled at his newfound friends, sitting down beside them to tie up his boots. "One more hour!" Gabriel announced with excitement and sadness. They all had different squads to go to, save for Castiel and Adam.
"Gabriel, we have an hour and forty-five minutes." Alfie corrected, sitting closely beside Adam. Castiel had assumed they were dating back when they met—2 months ago—but they had rejected the idea at the moment it was said. But, it was pretty obvious of their feelings for each other.
Just as Gabriel was about to counter against Alfie, a hand landed down softly on Castiel's shoulder. "Hey, Castiel." He turned and stood up, smiling. "Hannah! Finally here." He embraced her in a hug, Gabriel raising his eyebrows at Cas in a suggestive way. Cas just flipped him off secretly before pulling away, staring down at her. She was in her uniform too, her hair pulled out of the way in a ponytail. "Of course, I signed up for a reason, Castiel." She grinned before sitting in an available chair, next to Gabriel. Cas sat back down, his eyes scanning around.
Three men walked in, one of them being the guy that had stared at Castiel the day he volunteered. Aka, the man with the fantastic ass. Cas looked away, tuning into the conversation that Gabriel and Adam were heatedly in.
"Shut the hell up!"
"Adam and Alfie sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s—" Adam slapped a hand over his mouth, his face flushed a deep red. Alfie had his earbuds in, so he hadn't heard a word. Hannah glanced over at them curiously. "You're gay?" She asked in a weird voice, making Castiel shiver involuntarily. She beamed at Adam and Gabriel, cooing. "That's great, you're so lucky to have found someone!"
Soon, an hour and forty-five minutes dwindle down to five minutes, which resulted in Gabriel overreacting and dramatically hugging the three guys. When he pulled back, his face was completely serious, and he made it a point to be back. "By the time we get back for Christmas, you all three better have your asses back at this spot or so help me I will go find you and bring you back." His voice cracked slightly and Castiel knew then that he wasn't overreacting. He was truly worried but didn't know how to show it.
Castiel pulled Gabriel back in a hug before saying, "Don't worry, I promise to have me and Adam back by Christmas." Alfie smiled and nodded. "And I'll be back ready to celebrate the holiday." Gabriel smiled sadly before lighting up. "We are all spending the holiday together, alright? So stay alive!" Adam laughed weakly and nodded, none of them willingly to admit they were scared to not return or have one of them not return. Hannah smiled sadly at the small group before tugging at Castiel and Adam, seeing as she was in their squad too. "Time to go."
Gabriel stood beside Alfie, watching the three of them stand opposite of them. Before they knew it, Gabriel and Alfie stood straight and saluted them off, seeing as they didn't leave when they did. People in the airport watched and a woman dabbed her eyes. The three saluted back, smiling and waving before walking off with their packs to the boarding section.
Castiel really hoped they'd all be back for Christmas.
Dean cheered with his buddies, patting their backs roughly. "This is it, boys! Damn, it'd be nice to have one of you with me." Benny frowned and took in a deep breath. "Sure would, brother. But we have an hour to spend, let's make it memorable." Garth nodded eagerly, amazing Dean. He would have never guessed the thin man like him would be joining the army. Let alone so eager to go serve.
His thoughts wondered back to his family and he winced internally. He itched to go say bye to Sammy, but he couldn't. It was too late, and he couldn't afford to drive the three hours to Lawrence. A frustrated sigh left his lips as he angrily roughed up his hair, resting his head in his hand. A hand landed on his shoulder, making him peek out and looked at the person. "Yeah, Benny?" The man crooked his head to the side in a question, his expression asking it all.
