There we were in the middle of chemistry on a typical Tuesday morning. Mr. Watts being his usual dorky self, and over half the class asleep.
"Okay kids, today we are going to be working in groups. Carlee, David, Sam, and Kayla your all in group one. Niall, Kim, Josh, and..."
I sat there in my seat praying Mr. Watts would call my name to be in Niall's group. Since the beginning of the school year I've had a crush on him, but I always chicken out when ever an opportunity comes up for us to talk. I've never been very good at talking to boys.
"...and Katie, you all will be group 2..." My heart started beating faster, did he really just call my name? The rest of what Mr. Watts said is a blur.
"Okay.. You can do it Katie, just get up and walk towards him..." I said to my self.
Once I reached the lab station where our group was working, I glanced over at Niall only to see him already talking to Kim.
"Ello, are you in my group?" Niall said in his charming Irish accent.
"Umm... Yeah," I said scrambling for words.
"That's a nice American accent ya got there." Niall complimented me.
"Oh, thanks. This is actually my first year in Ireland." I said trying to sound as cool as possible.
"Oh really, there's a lot you have to see then, love." Niall hinted at me. I know it's a normal thing for people over here to call everyone "love", but it still makes my heart race.
"Uh, guys, how about we do our work now!" Kim butted into our conversation, and ruined our moment. Niall and I both quickly began to work. I couldn't help but stare into Niall's beautiful big blue eyes. I think Kim notice me looking at Niall. She probably likes Niall too. Who am I kidding, everyone likes Niall.
"KATIE! Could you at least try not to suck at this, we have to get a good grade!!" Kim shouted at me.
"Sorry." I said with water in my eyes, trying not to cry.
"Kim, chill, this is her first year in Ireland." Niall quickly came to my rescue.
"Thanks," I murmured quietly to Niall.
"Course love." Niall quickly responded.
When the bell rang I quickly grabbed my stuff and ran out of the classroom. My family had just moved to Ireland, so I don't really have any friends. Except this one girl who was really nice, but she only talks to me when she is asking for a pencil. It's hard for me to make friends sometimes.
I walked into the foyer and sat down on one of the many benches. I pulled out my phone and saw a text from my sister, Devon, that said,
"If you meet any cute boys make sure you tell them you have a pretty hot sister. Jk."
I sat there for a minute until I saw Niall running down the hallway holding two coffees from Starbucks. He sat down next to me.
" Sorry it took so long love," Niall said out of breath. I looked around to make sure he was talking to me. Niall handed me one of the coffees
"Oh, thanks Niall but you didn't have to do that." I said I could feel my cheeks turning red.
"Course I did, you know you shouldn't listen to Kim. She is like that with everyone." Niall said scooting closer to me.
"Yeah, well she's right. I don't fit in here, and I never will." I said looking down at my hands.
"You will, you just need to give it time." Niall said staring into my eyes.
"Well we better get to class." Niall said standing up.
"Yeah, thanks for the coffee." I said standing up.
"Anytime." Niall said walking away.
I went over to the trash can to throw away my coffee cup, just as I realized Niall had written his number, and "lets hang out" on the bottom of the cup.
