By hour three into the drive I was singing to every country song I listened to. The roads were pretty empty so I didn't mind singing till my hearts content.

By hour four I pulled off the highway to a small mom and pops restaurant. Parking my car I get out and stretch my sore limbs, walking in I was greeted by a delicious smell, "hmmm, is that apple pie?" I smile and take a seat at the stool in front of the bar.

"Yes ma'am it is," an elderly woman says, "would you like a slice?"

"Of course! But do you have whipped cream?" She giggles at my childish behavior.

"Oh yes sweetheart, Tommy one slice of the pie for this beautiful lady!"

"Yes ma'am," he calls out.

"So little lady, why are you here? Passing through?" she says as she wipes off some glasses.

"Yeah, I'm on my way to Fort Wayne, almost there I do believe."

"Oh, you be careful up there, strange things happen." She cocks an eyebrow in my direction. She smells of human so she most be talking about the pack. Making a mental note to make sure I talk to the alpha up there about that. We HAVE to be careful.

"What'cha mean ma'am?" I say as she places the apple pie in front of me and takes out the whip cream from beneath the bar to top my perfect lunch off.

"There's been sightings of big wolves-"

"Gram you have to stop telling people those stories, they're just urban legends." A man comes out from the kitchen.

"Tommy they're not legends! Your grandpop's turning in his grave hearing you talk like that. He saw one with his own eyes!" The man who looks to be in his twenties shakes his head at the old lady. He wasn't that bad looking, cute for a human. He stood at least 6 foot with shaggy blonde hair and beautiful brown eyes. He was wearing a flannel and an apron.

"Don't listen to her gorgeous, she's been saying these things my whole life." He says as he takes a seat next to me, "I'm Tommy, what's your name?"

"Hannah, and I dunno," turning to look at the older lady whose leaning against the wall, "I believe anythings possible." Within reason.

"Well Hannah how long you plannin' on stayin' here?" His country draw is really starting to show.

"I'm not sure, I'll be in Fort Wayne most of the time though, thats still about an hour or so from here."

"Oh, I know I live there," he says with a wink.

I'm sure I'm blushing by now, I finish up my pie up, "how much ma'am?" I ask.

"It can be on me if you give me your number," this boy, why is he trying so hard?

"Thomas Lee! Knock that off! Stop harassing the poor girl!"

I laugh, "I'll give you my number, but," pulling a twenty out of my purse, "I'm still paying." Laying the twenty on the table I scratch my number out on a napkin for him as I give thanks and say goodbye.

I'll probably never hear from him, but that was actually nice.

Contrary to most peoples beliefs, we're allowed to mingle with humans. Though its a headache to explain to them who we are, and all that jazz theres plenty of humans in our packs. The offsprings are always wolves though. But they live a pretty normal life, they just aren't granted their wolves till 16 when we're able to shift after 1.

Jumping back in my jeep I pull my shades back on, blaring the music I wave goodbye to Tommy as he stands by the door watching my peel off back to the highway I came from.
