Frisk was just a normal kid living in an orphanage, surely nothing can go wrong right?
The first time Frisk was taken into the orphanage they were just 6, their family died in a fire and nobody seemed to care. It was always like that, nobody really cared for Frisk. They weren't like the other kids, they weren't energetic and bold.. and brave. No, but they were quite curious and adventurous.
In their free time they would read books. Fairy tales, Horror, Comedic books, heck even a history book if they were bored enough, but what interested them the most was an old book, a book torn and faded by time, its contents were nearly legible and they can hardly read it, but they knew how to decipher the smudged writings, In time they nearly memorized the contents of the book, Monsters and Humans and something about a war. Unfortunately they didn't know why the war happened, That part was already beyond repair, but they did knew about monsters, and began to have a strange admiration for them.
That, that was a few years ago. Frisk still believed that monsters will come once again but it was all pushed away by school and homework. Frisk didn't really like school, it was kinda like torture for them. But they have to do it or else they would be in so much trouble once they go back to the orphanage. Frisk didn't have much friends, the only friend they have is dead. A ghost that became really attached to them since they met.
Their name was Chara, the supposedly 'evvilll' spirit in the orphanage. Sure, Chara has anger issues and were sometimes really annoying, but they weren't evil.
Frisk still remembered the first time they met like it was yesterday. A few years ago, Frisk heard a loud 'Bang' coming from downstairs. Although nobody was awake besides them despite the fact that it was pretty loud.
With newfound courage they headed downstairs to find the source, only to find out that someone was in the kitchen rummaging through different food and ingredients. There was a high possibility that it was one of the orphans and Frisk was no tattletale so they left them be with the luxury of food and went back upstairs, they took a quick glance on the kitchen and almost fell off the stairs when they saw....a...girl? Whatever their gender was, they were transparent and that made Frisk pretty uneasy, it also doesn't help calm them down when the fact that they were floating...mid air.
They were wearing a purple and black striped sweater, they had pale skin, rosy cheeks and blood red eyes which made them even more intimidating. They had soft hazel hair, it was even short and straight almost like Frisk's.
Frisk saw the ghostly being grab onto something in the fridge 'was it meat?do ghosts even eat raw meat? maybe they have a secret stash of lost spirits in there? Which they gain from dead people??' Frisk's mind began to wander, but their question was finally answered when the ghost held up a...chocolate bar?? Frisk tried to contain their laughter as the ghost seemingly tried to eat it and groaned when it just phased right through them.
Just when Frisk decided it was time to go back to bed, they felt themselves slip. The ground wasn't anywhere near and Frisk felt themselves falling.
Time seemed to slow down as Frisk fell off, they saw the ghost giving off a shocked expression on their face and let out a loud gasp right before the world turned pitch black...

"Hey, are you alright?" A voice called out to them. It gave off a hint of worry.
Silence..."Uhhhhhh...if you can hear me..I kinda need to go..you were unconscious for a few hours and it's almost dawn.."
Frisk started to stir and gain consciousness. Their bottom and back ached and so does their cheeks. They wanted to rest a bit more, A few more hours wouldn't hurt right?
As soon as they said that, someone shook their body causing them to wake up, it was the same ghost from before, they looked irritated and worried at the same time.
"Look, partner, as much as I know that you still need to heal from what happened a few hours ago you really need to go. If they found you lying here you're gonna be in a lot of trouble."
Frisk hastily got up and ignored all the pain they felt. They thanked the ghost and slowly trudged back to the room but stopped when they realized they haven't gotten the name of the friendly ghost. They turned back just in time to see the ghost leaving.
"Wait!" they shouted quietly, the ghost turned around with a confused look on their face wanting to see what's wrong.
"W-Whats your name?" Frisk stuttered, it hurts to talk and their throat felt dry.
The ghost seemed shocked, they remained that way for a few seconds until they replied with a sincere smile on their face.
"My name is...Chara"
-------------
Frisk sighed as they recalled those memories, it was already a nightly habit for them to think about things before they go to sleep; though it feels more like a bad case of insomnia since they mostly end up sleeping at 3 am in the morning.
They were just about to sleep until they heard the rustling of leaves outside. They slowly got up from bed and walked quietly to the window.
To their surprise they saw something moving in the woods. Curiosity got the best of them and they started to head downstairs and began to pack some necessities in their small bag. They got a flashlight and some extra batteries just in case. They felt a presence behind them, Frisk turned around and saw their friend Chara. They looked suspiciously at them and was about to say something until Frisk stopped them.
"I think I saw something outside, I'm just gonna take a quick look"
Chara still doesn't seem convinced.
"Don't you think it's too much of a hassle to pack things just to take a 'look'?" Chara smugly grinned at them.
Frisk sighed, 'this wasn't going to be easy'
"Fine, you can come, but don't be too much of an annoyance alright?"
"Fine by me~" Chara followed frisk through the door and quietly closed it.
They slowly got past the guards that were guarding the gate. Chara swiped one of the guard's identity cards and managed to use it to open a smaller gate without the guards noticing.
They sneakily got outside and got to a clearing. The woods were looming above them like tall gentle giants. It gave of a calm sensation that they didn't have in a while.
Soon they found themselves entering the woods. They put on a brave facade and entered it with a deep breath, Who knows if they can still make it back alive?
