Is was the dead of winter in 1864, in the final brutal months of the Civil War, when a gruesome massacre took place in a small town in the hills of North Carolina, just across the border from where the war began in Fort Sumter, South Carolina.
At the end of the battle, everyone who lived in those parts were slaughtered by Union Soldiers. Those soldiers weren't ordinary men; they were blood-thirsty, vengeful bastards and heartless killers. These men also weren't sure what was in those hills.
Those soldiers marched on into the night, burning every home they came to, lighting up every building they saw. They killed every man, woman and child they met. It didn't matter how handsome they were, what color their skin was, how big a house, or how much money they had; they were killed on the spot right where they stood.
At the end of the final day, the men came to a home atop a mountain on the outskirts of town. After tearing through their property, they asked where it was, but the owners didn't tell.
And that one family died defending a secret...
