-Viktor-
Once the intense, crippling pain had stopped, I yanked the knife from my back and sat up. My flesh tingled as it knitted itself back together. I stretched slightly and sighted. The only thing I got from this ordeal is a ruined jacket. I also got information about him though. That disgusting rat that called himself part of our family. The half blood. I felt my face twist into a scowl. He had gotten stronger, learning a few parlor tricks not even fitting for a dog. How could he gave gotten away? I won't let him get away next time.
I decided my best action would be to go tell Father of Vincent. He would be displeased, but he had to know I had found him. Surely he would be pleased at that. So I traveled to the large house we now resided in. I didn't like this house. It was old and I could smell the past residents. They were human, so naturally I was disgusted. The human girl with the Eyes always said she enjoyed it. Simple minded, I always thought. As I entered the old house, I remembered I had one of the Eyes. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked into the green iris. I stopped in my tracks, hypnotized by it.
"Viktor, what do you have?"
I broke my gaze to look up. It was Grandmother. She was very ancient, but powerful. Powerful, and yet still as useless as ever. She refused to use any of her power to help the family. She refused to use it at all. What a waste, all of it was on her. I hid my look of loathing and put the Eye back in my pocket. "What do you speak of, Grandmother?"
"The thing you just held. Let me see it, child." Grandmother held her hand out. She must have expected me to comply like a child. I only stared at her silently.
She narrowed her dove grey eyes and kept her stance. "Viktor, I'm warning you. You give me what you have in your pocket now."
"Or what, Grandmother. I am no longer five. I fear you not." I turned to leave, but Father was blocking my way. He looked at Grandmother.
"What's happening here?"
"Do you not feel that? Viktor has a Holder of some sort."
"A Holder? But that's impossible. They were all distroyed."
"Father," I snapped. I was tired of being talked over like I wasn't there. I stood taller and refused to move when he gave me a glare. I would not falter.
He started to talk as I was about to tell him about the half blood. "Viktor, you give me the source of power you hold right now, or I will destroy the power you have now," he rumbled in the most threatening way he could. I felt my blood run cold. Father was about to frighten me, I give him that. But I still refused to cave. I kept my stand and stared right back at him.
"I have news of Vincent," I said as strongly as I could.
They both froze, but Grandmother was first to speak. "Vincent is of no concern of us. Let him live his mundane life. Now give me the Holder." Power vibrated in her voice, almost making the house shake.
"No, he attacked me!" I yelled, losing my mask of calm. My face turned red with anger. I felt power emanate from the Eye, which I then absorbed to hum with my own power.
I then was slammed against a wall. Father had is forearm to digging into my throat, pinning me there. I ground my teeth and pushed him away, but it was too late. Grandmother had already taken the Eye out of my pocket. I turned my eyes to her, glaring with hatred. She was shell shocked, her usual pink cheeks now pale white.
"The Eyes of Magic," she whispered. Then she looked at me with sad and pained eyes. "Where did you get this eye?"
My answer was simple, yet it made my Grandmother almost drop the Eye. I looked at the green once again, marveling at its raw beauty and allure. "I got it from the girl."
