We all know the lurking dangers at the bottom of the ocean, where the sea witches wait for their next gullible victim, but do you know how they ended up there?

Ursula wasn't always the most wicked sea witch in Atlantica, she was once a kind, loving mermaid like all the others, with a glimmering purple tail and long, wavy, chestnut brown hair that dangled down her back. She once swam around with her younger sister explore the ocean like any other merfolk would. But she grew up with awful parents, her father wanted Ursula and her sister, Morgana take after him, and torture innocent merfolk for joy and her mother would swim up to the surface of the water and attract men to lure them to their death.

This isn't the life Ursula wanted to live, she didn't want to be evil and live like her mother of father. As her mother and Father did horrible, unspeakable things their tail began to divide in 8 parts, then forming into large, long tentacles. This would be the fate of any merfolk who went out of their way to do bad things and hurt others for no particular reason and Ursula was determine to stop it. She would not turn out like that!
Ursula took care of her little sister, by going for the long swim to the market and bringing Morgana food and new toys. Ursula would swim to the depths of the ocean to collect hidden coins and treasures to purchase things for herself and her sister.

It was almost as if Ursula and Morgana were alone, and it didn't change when their parents passed away. It was the same, so it didn't bother Morgana or Ursula of their parents death, instead they moved away to where more merfolk lived and got jobs.
Morgana, her sister, moved away from Ursula a few years later for a higher paid job and it did have a large effect on Ursula, she would try to contact her little sister but she was never available until Ursula finally got contact with her one day by a craftsmerman. He called to tell her what was going on, and to her horror Morgana had been trading illegal substances and traveled to the depths of the ocean where became none other than what she feared, a sea witch. Morgana grew large tenticles like her parents and made ridiculous, unfair trades with naive merfolk. Ursula couldn't do anything to stop her, what's done was done, there was nothing she could do to change her sister back to the way she once was.

So instead of being depressed about it, Ursula put a smile on her face and swam about, not paying attention to where she was going, she swam around a twisted coral and followed a school of fish down to deep, dark ocean floor. It was dark, hard to see anything except got the fact that large swirled lights lit up the way to a giant cave, decorated in swirls and pink lighting from the inside. Ursula swam to it and explored the mysterious cave, with large spikes and walls. It was almost as if it was a home for someone, like someone lived there but it was far too quiet for anything too be living here. Ursula saw a large pointed stone, like something was meant to fit in, like it belonged to a sea witch. That was when it clicked to Ursula that this an old cave of an old sea witch. The cabinets and cupboards were filled with bottles of potions and poisons and she found the large mystical globe that fit perfectly into the stone structure. The globe lit up once Ursula put it on the stone and like a reflex, Ursula waved her hand over it, thinking of her sister and there it was. A perfect scene of what her sister was doing, tricking another victim into something horrible and regrettable.

Ursula went through the cabinets and experimented with all the potions, she even read through a large spell book which was hidden behind a door. She made herself rememeber each and every spell and tried them all out to see the effect on fish that lurked in her part of the ocean, the bottom. Ursula one day found herself being woken up one morning by the silent crying of a mermaid. Ursula smiled to herself almost wickedly, the thought of helping another that needed comfort seemed like a great idea and being a nice sea witch as she called herself, she felt proud so she swam along to the sulking mermaid who looked up at Ursula slowly approaching.
Ursula offered her help and asked what her problem was only to hear that the mermaid had been heartbroken and onto wishing she could turn back time so they could still be together so Ursula offered her a price. Ursula would make sure that the mermaid and her lover would stay together forever in exchange for a lifetime of help and the naive mermaid agreed. She signed her name away without realising the consequences and with a splish and a splash of potions and strange items, the mermaid was reunited with her infinite lover, now they both swam around Ursula giving her all the help she needed but they no longer were merfolk, Ursula had transformed them into into Eels and would listen to everything she said as they had no say in what to do, ursula had the signature she needed and she used it to her advantage. She called her most trusted helpers, flotsam and Jetsam.

It wasn't long until Ursula was met by a new victim wanting help, and it was only a start, Ursula tricked mermaids and Mermen so there was no way of escaping her enchantment and she didn't even realise when years in the work when her tail finally split into 8 tentacles and her long brown hair shortened and turned white, but by then Ursula only saw the need to help the pained merfolk, or so she thought. She was doing no good, she broke many merfolk hearts until there was no undoing by turning them all into worms. Ursula trapped their souls into a large twisted shell necklace that was wrapped around her neck, the more souls she collected the more powerful she became and the more powerful she became the more attached she grew to the shell that did no good, unless it was broken. The breaking of the shell would mean that every innocent soul would be returned and it take a very strong mermaid to do that, a very determine, little mermaid...
