Fern's PoV
I sit in Dad's convertable as I wait for Penny.I beep a couple of times before she comes out.Holding her sneakers and one sock on,bag in shoulder she skipped to the car as she shoots on her sneakers.She finally gets in and we leave.We were almost late,so I step on the accelerator slightly.

"You never told me you were friends with Jake."She said putting down the window visor and opening the mirror.She applied her lipstick.

"Why is it important?"I object.

"I don't know,because you're my brother.Idiot."She spoke sarcastically before bonking my head with her palm.

"Hey.Don't distract the driver."I say waving her hand away."So...I'll tell you now,I'm friends with Jake."

She rolls her eyes."Idiot."

"What do you want from him anyway?"I say."A date?You already have a boyfriend."

"Guess what.He's going to Frescott."I smile.I knew that all along,I also knew that she had a crush on Jake.When a friend of hers asks for help with a crush (a.k.a Cassy),she comes running to me.It all started in fifth grade when she started sobbing about how come Jake didn't notice her,and that was the term after we had Sex Ed.

"I wish you the best of luck.I am going far away where there is no Cassy."I make a dramatic hand gesture with one hand.I was glad to be separated from Penny for a while,some Fern time.I was going to a place called Enerstrop University.

"Yay."She says sarcastically,waving her hands a bit then letting it drop to her lap.

"Listen.If you wanna talk to Jake.He's just a little flirty with girls but you'll be fine."I say as she puts her lipstick away.

"He already talked to me.Dick head."She pulled my hair as I repetitively said 'Ouch'."You gave him my stupid number.In case you don't remember."

"Oh yah.He kept checking you outat you at lunch yesterday."I say."Does that alot,I just don't want him to check out my sister.Gross."

"I know."She growled."You don't think I wouldn't notice pure blue eyes piercing at me?"

"I thought so.Just to put it out there."

I park at school and look at Penny who had her arms crossed around her chest and her lips formed a pout.

"I'm sure you have a chance with your crush,he seems to like you."Her jaw dropped at what I said.I just reply with a smirk.

"You dick head."She pronounces with a small spit.

"Knew ever since fith grade."I shout a little taking out my key and jump out of the car before she could harrass me.

Pushing the doors open,I stick the keys in my bag and walk to my locker to put my bag in and walk to the bundle of boys that stay by the cafeteria every morning before class.Jake walks to me when he sees me and pushes me away from the crowd.

"What does she think?"He says with shiny eyes,a worried look plastered on his face and shaky arms.

"Don't worry I think you had her under the hook longer than you even knew."I wink and I saw his body soften.
