10. Turning

Trigger warning !

When Aragorn finally went back, he felt horrible. He shouldn't leave Legolas out there with that other vampire, but as long as Legolas didn't wanted his help he could do nothing. He needed a real plan, instead of just run away and do something stupid.

He rounded a corner, and felt the most intense pain he ever felt. He felt like his stomach was on fire, and he couldn't help but scream out.
He first fell to his knees as they buckled underneath him, then to his right side, clutching the stake tightly. He heard gasps and felt hands on him before he everything went black.

When he woke up he didn't opened his eyes. He enjoyed the darkness surrounding him, until Legolas came to his mind. And the pain.
He opened his eyes, blinking against the daylight filling the room.
He felt every heartbeat through his stomach, and as he lay a gentle band on it he felt it throbbing. Frowning, he lifted his shirt and noticed the bloodied bandage wrapped around the upper half of his stomach.

"Hi my love..."

He looked to his right and saw Arwén sit there, looking ashamed and close to tears.

"I'm sorry.."

He tried to push himself to his elbows, to find out he was too weak to.

"We thought you were Legolas."

Aragorn's brain was too tired to really make any sense, but he caught one thing.

"You were waiting to stake Legolas?"

"I'm sorry..." A tear slipped from her eye, and she brew in a deep breath.

Aragorn swallowed hard, before he said the sentence he long wanted to say.

"It's over Arwén."

Her sad expression turned to one of shock, until she finally sighed.

"I knew it would come to this. You love Legolas."

Then her expression turn stern.
"Just know this, I'll not give up until he is dead."

Aragorn frowned.
"And I'll not give up until he is living the life wants, and is free."

Arwen's eyes were burning with rage, but she didn't say anything. She rose from her seat and turned to leave. She stopped in the doorframe, and turned around.

"I'll do anything I can to make sure Legolas is dead. I have guards."

"You have nothing, you aren't queen anymore."

She shook her head.
"You need to sign a paper. I'm still queen."

He signed and turned away his head, not wanting to see her. His eyes slowly slipped close, even as he desperately tried to keep them open.

Next time he woke up, he opened his eyes at once.
Looking to his side, he saw a guard sleeping in a chair. He was probably set there to keep watch on him, but fell asleep.

Pushing the blanket off he sat up in bed. The stitches pulled and treated to split open, but he slowly stood up anyway.
Succeeding, he walked over and opened the door as soundlessly as he could. Unfortunately the guard awoke, and was in his feet in a instant.
