It had become part of Amaan's and Priya's daily routine to talk at the end of the day. By text, call, even email. They would talk somehow. It was finally the end of the day, so Amaan called Priya."
"Hey. How was your day?" Amaan asked.
"Surprisingly not busy. How was your day?"
"The opposite of yours. There was just so much work to do."
"That sucks. I'm sorry."
"Don't be, That is what I signed up for."
"I think you actual signed up for the money. I mean you're a multimillionaire. There have to be some benefits with all that money."
"I can't complain can I?"
"Nope."
" Since party season is coming up, I was wondering if you would like to be my plus 1. I would invite Rohan, but he never goes to these parties so why bother."
"Are you asking me out, Amaan Khan?"
"Just as friends of course. So will you be my plus one?"
"If it means free food, then hell yes."
Amaan laughed. "Good. I'll send all of the invitations to you so you'll know when I'll pick you up."
"I'll send my address so you can actually pick me up." And with that, they ended their conversations. Amaan let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. The weight of the world is no longer on his shoulders.
Priya, on the other hand, was basically emotions masala. She couldn't really explain her emotions. They man of her dreams asked her out. He did say as friends. But still. She called Tori because what else do you do, but she didn't answer. It wasn't like her to not answer Priya's call. If she was busy she would text her. Something wasn't right. She spent her life on that phone. Doing the only logical thing she could think of was to go to Tori's house. She grabbed her keys and drove to Tori's house.
Priya didn't even bother ringing the doorbell. She had the spare key. When she walked in she realized why she didn't answer her phone. Her little "friend" was here.
"What are you doing here?" Tori asked walking to the door.
"Just checking to see if you were still alive. You didn't answer my calls or texts."
"You can blame me for that." Her little friend spoke up. "I made her put her phone on silent before I hid it. She needs a break."
"I still can't get over your accent. I don't know what to call it anymore."
"It's like an Italian and a brit gave birth to his accent," Tori stated as a matter of fact. "He just perfect." Tori walked over to him. "Doesn't he look so handsome today."
He blushed. "I don't know why you play this game with me. I do the same thing every time."
"That's because she likes you Devvon. Plus you have the cutest blush ever." He blushed again.
"So what was so urgent that you had to make sure that I was still alive?"
"Amaan asked me out." Tori slammed her hands on the table.
"He what! And you're just telling me this now?. That should have been the first thing you said when you walked in. What! Where are you guys going? I need to know everything."
"He asked me to be his plus one to party season. So basically all of the parties coming up."
"That's so cute. That means you're going to meet all of his friends. Maybe even his family. He wants his friends to meet you and get to know you. See what they think of you."
"I didn't even think of that. What if they don't like me? Our relationship would be over before it even started."
"Don't even say that. You are perfect just the way you are. There is no valid reason to not like you." Devvon said.
"Awe, thanks, booboo. You better keep him, Tori, before someone else takes him."
"We are just friends. We agreed a long time ago that we were not going to date." Tori responded.
"The only reason we would end up together would be because we haven't gotten married in ten years. Only then would we get together."
"That's so stupid. You guys are so perfect for each other."
"Maybe if I lived over here it would be a different story," Devvon said.
"But the chances of him leaving London is close to none. And I'm sure as hell not leaving. I'll only move to Canada."
"And live with Raj?" Priya joked
"Heck yes. I would get to see my little Romeo." Tori said with excitement.
"I'm going home because I have to go to work tomorrow, but you should meet me for lunch."
"Where?"
"We can meet at Subway. The one we always go to."
"Okay. Go to sleep. It's already after midnight."
"I know I know. I'm leaving. Goodnight."
"Night," Tori and Devvon said simultaneously.
Priya didn't do much sleeping that night. All she could think about was Amaan. What if she was overreacting? As friends of course. She couldn't help the fact that he might actually not be into her. But why me out of all his friends. There had to be a reason. By the time she fell asleep the sun was rising. She just prayed that she would have an easy day.
She clearly didn't pray long enough. It was one of the busiest days in a long time. The second her lunch break came around she bolted for the door. She got to Subway in record time. Tori was already there and had ordered for the both of them.
"I see you avoided my advice again."
"Is it that obvious?"
"You look so sleep deprived." Priya groaned and put her face in her hands. "Why didn't you sleep. And Amaan is not a valid reason."
"Then I don't have a valid excuse."
"I don't know why you're so worried. He asked you for a reason. Chill the fuck out."
"It's not that easy."
"I know it's not, but you should at least try. You know I'm always right."
"Yeah yeah I know."
The girls ate their lunch and talked for a little bit before they went back to work. By the end of the day, Priya was exhausted. She could barely keep her eyes open. When she got home she went straight to bed. Before she falls asleep Amaan called her. Their conversation was short because Amaan could tell that Priya was exhausted.
Rohan was a hot mess. Every day that passed he got more nervous. Not only did he have to worry about Priya, but also going to all of the parties. He normally only goes to the parties he cared about. So now he was going to have to make a good impression. I don't even have anything to where. If I wore a suit to all of the parties would that be such a bad thing? Rohan knew that he would have to go shopping, but he really didn't want to. Maybe someone could do it for me. The only person that came into mind was Amita, Amaan's baby sister
Rohan considered Amita to be his sister also. They teased each other and messed around all the time. They had known each other for years. They grew up together. Although he saw Amita as his sister he also found her to be pretty attractive. He saw he grow from a little tomboy to a beautiful woman. He also knew that it bother Amaan to know that his sister wasn't so little anymore.
Rohan sent her a text saying "Last minute shopping emergency. I need to look Indian. Please help. ASAP!!!"
She replied seconds later "I got you. I'm going to New York tomorrow. Who are you trying to impress?"
"Who said I'm trying to impress anybody?"
"You. She is really lucky. Even I couldn't get you to go to a party."
Rohan didn't respond. He knew that if he said anything, Amita would share it with the world. He was going to getting new clothes. Everything was going to plan. A little too smoothly.
