(Four days later)
'Matt? Are we going to die in here?' Kat's she croaked her voice was strained from dehydration. She felt weak and powerless. There was no reply, 'Matt?' She searched for Matt but her eyes were glowing dull. Then she smelled the rich scented smell of burning. People shrieked and cried. She stepped away from the door as she heard the thunderous explosion. She ducked as the door flung itself across the gloomy blood stained room. Matt appeared next to her, pulling her to her feet.

'Are you okay?' He asked in caution. Her eyes felt heavy. Her lips looked blue. She was going to die. Her heart beat was so soft, so slow, so weak he could barely hear it. 'Kat. Kat please stay with me.' He said in a soft voice. 'I promise you that you're not gonna die Kitten.' His red eyes shone towards the door frame, and he hissed.
'Kat!' A voice yelled as her eyes started to close.

'No no no.' Matt's voice was in panic. 'Don't you dare die on me.' He pulled her closer to him. 'I promised remember.'
'Kat where are you!' Jimmy's voice was loud it sounded strained and restless.
'In here!' Matt called out.
'Kat!' The first voice yelled in panic, his voice was both familiar but to Kat it seemed so far away. So distant. 'Kat!' The voice yelled.
Then all the space around Kat flickered and faded into darkness.

(Flashback 2 years ago)
'Kat I've got to go home my tea's done.' Lizzy said waving to Kat as she hopped over the fence at the skate park.
'Okay I'll head home in a bit.' Kat told her. As Lizzy vanished into the distance.
'Miss Katarina-Rose?' A deep voice asked. She swung round in alarm to see a tall man in a black suit with dark hair and bright blue eyes. 'I'm Caleb. Caleb James-Grant. I'm sorry for your loss.'
'What loss?' Kat asked in confusion.
'Why Matteo and Sasha of course.' He said with a sympathetic smile.
'You knew my foster family?' Kat gasped in surprise.

'Hey Kat!' Jamie said running over.
'Oh god does this guy ever quit?' Kat slouched.
Caleb chuckled, ' You seem to have an admirer.'
'Aww man. He's full of himself really. I don't understand why people like him he's so arrogant.' Kat snapped.
'I'm sorry young man but this girl needs you to stay well away from her.' Caleb said in a frightening tone that sounded almost threatening.
'Um mm. Ye-Yes sir.' Jamie said and turned around walking away.
' So will you bless me with the honour of walking you home Katarina.' Caleb said charmingly as he put his sunglasses on.

'Um sure I mean I guess.' Kat stuttered pushing her hair behind her ear. 'Sooo? How do you know my name?' Kat asked nervously.
'We've met before but you were only small. I gave you something. I need to know if you kept it. It has something very important in it.' Caleb's voice was laced with concern.
'The book? The one with the story of Raven blue. It has your name on the cover, on the inside first page of the cover. It's in my parents lock down.' Kat said.

'Your parents? As in Marissa and Paul?' Caleb asked.
' Yeah. By the way thanks for the book it's really good. My favourite part is the story of Raven Blue, I'm not so sure what all the weird writing is and the family tree but it's good.' Kat smiled happily.
'Good.' Caleb smiled. 'So I hear your grades are good.' He started.
'Look Marcus told me not to talk to strangers. So I'm gonna go home now. Thanks for telling Jamie to leave. Have a nice day.' Kat said. Then she heard it. The pricing scream that sounded just like. No it couldn't be. 'Lizzy!' Kat said as she took off in a dead run towards the blood curdling screams. Kat wasn't afraid of danger she'd never been afraid of danger.

Then she saw it as she sped around the corner to see her best friend lying on the ground with blood pouring from her neck. Kat raced over to her best friends lifeless body on the ground. 'Kat step away from her.' Caleb's voice came sharp and weary. 'You don't have experience with other supernaturals especially vampires.' His voice was harsh and static.
'She's my best friend!' Kat cried.
'She doesn't have a heart beat.' Caleb argued. 'She is most likely to kill someone within her first six months of being a vampire. She might even kill you. They can't control their blood lust Kat it's too dangerous to have her here.'
'I can take care of myself.' The tears streamed down her cheeks. 'I'll help her.' Kat had never met a vampire and suddenly her best friend had become one. 'What has gone wrong with the world' why would anyone do this to her best friend? Lizzy of all people?
'I have to go. I'll send for someone to train her to ensure your safety.' Caleb said putting a black ear piece in his ear. 'This better be good.' He answered the phone. 'I'll see you shortly Katarina-Rose Chamberlain.'
'Lizzy. Don't do this to me! Lizzy come back to me.' Kat cried.
