Knock, Knock, Knock... The sound of a fist against the wooden door. Tom blinked his eyes open, lifting his head to look at the door. As he got up, he suddenly remembered why Matt was laying naked with him in the bed. He exhaled softly, smiling as he now made sure to not awaken the sleeping ginger. Covering Matt back up with the blanket, he slipped on just his pajama pants and cracked the door. It was Edd.
His face was concerned, brown eyes wider than they should be. "Did something happen last night?! I heard yelling and stuff.." Edd spouted, trying to peer into the room through the door, only to have his vision block by Toms body. "No." Tom said, putting on a blank emotion. Edd looked at Tom, the stitches on his bare chest puffy and red from the agitation of last night. "Hmm. Okay." Edd said giving him a doubtful stare. Edd looked like he was about to leave before he popped up another question. "Have you seen Matt?"
"He felt sick last night so he stayed in my room," Tom looked solemnly at Edd, shrugging. "Hey, is there coffee made down in the kitchen?"
Edd frowned in suspicion, but nodded, "Yeah, I made some earlier." He raised an eyebrow at Tom before heading back to the living room. Tom followed him a few moments later after making sure Matt was still asleep. He walked up to the counter and pulled down a plate and Matt's mug. Pouring some coffee with sugar and cream, he toasted some bread and spread apple butter on it. Setting the mug and toast on the plate, he walked back to his room and quietly went over to the bed. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he nudged Matt awake.
Matt groaned and rolled on his side as a response, grabbing a pillow and pressing covering his head with it "Ugh..". Tom nudged him again in the side. "Matt I got some food. Here." Tom stated, pulling Matt up by his shoulders, and watched as he formed his hands around the mug of coffee. Matt's eyes wearily opened and he took a sip, back slouching and leaning forward. Tom looked at him to start eating the toast. "No thanks.." Matt said, looking at the doorway rather than make eye contact. His ass hurt like hell.
Tom frowned slightly, munching on his piece of toast, complaining to Matt, "C'mon, you need to eat something." Matt just took another sip of coffee and shook his head. The ginger swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up, his breath hitching when he felt the eggs shift inside of him. Setting his toast down, Tom was immediately by his side when he heard his taller friend gasp softly. He held an arm around Matt protectively.
"Tom, I'm fine." He grumbled quietly, stepping away from Tom's arm. He walked towards the front of the room, where his clothes were originally dropped to the ground, kneeling down and slowly picking them up. Toms hand softly grabbed his arm. "Matt whats wrong?" Tom asked, his face portraying concern and a little frustration. Matts face twisted into something sour for a second before quickly changing into one with more sadness. "You need to explain what the hell went on yesterday. " Matt said, dropping the clothes he had in hand back to the floor
Tom blinked in realization, then nodded, "Right, yeah. Of course." Waiting for Matt to pick his pants back up and put them on, he sat down next to the ginger on the bed.
"Well, as you know, I'm a monster shifter. And, while that's fine and gives me quite a lot of strength and whatnot, It also means I go into heat every three or so months." Tom looked down at the floor, twiddling his thumbs.
"...Oh."
"Yeah," he paused, "And during that heat, I get like that, and every time..." He paused again, exhaling and laughing at himself in embarrassment, "I lay eggs. They never survive though, if they're not duds in the first place. It's not like I'd know if they were though, because I've never had someone to incubate them."
Tom's eyes stung slightly, the per-cursor to tears, so he shut his eyes. His skin crawled with startled goosebumps as Matt wrapped an arm around him, being careful to avoid the deep scars lacing his back.
"I'm sorry." Matt said, his voice sad and heavy. But he didn't understand the feeling, how could he? Tom didn't respond, just quickly wiped away the water in the corner of his eyes. "I..." Matt trailed off, scratching nervously at the scars on his arms. "I know I'm not the smartest or anything, but if you ever need someone to talk to... I'm here ya know" Matt said, sounding sincere. He reached down, grabbing his hoodie and tossing it over his head.
As Matt put on his hoodie, Tom nodded and looked at him, smiling softly. Tom stood up and helped pull Matt to his feet as well. Picking up the tray of uneaten toast, he walked with Matt out to the kitchen. Tom set the toast in Ringo's bowl and washed the plate and coffee mug.
