'Why?' The question sounded pathetic as if coming from a small and weak child. But it was the only thing running through Silver's mind as events unfolded at hyper speed with broken brakes. Shadow arrived with Midnight at his side and even with Amy red in the face and screaming at the top of her lungs at him for being away and not a word for so long, he stayed emotionless. Did he not care that much, that he made her worry, stress, lose sleep and tears over him? Or was he accepting it and since he'd come to his own resolve before her loud fits of guilt tripping that he was steady and grounded on what he made peace with that he felt unmoved with her words... As he reunited with everyone at the GUN HQ things began falling apart starting with him and Amy. Silver a grown hedgehog able to hold his own seeing his parents fight so intensely and one sided for a first was awkward, angering, and depressing. Angry or not he had to agree that the personal relationship problems will have to wait and all focus should be on the approaching object entering the orbit.
"Zulfare?" Tails questioned looking at the signal as the object became closer.
"That fast? I doubt it..." Sonic scoffed as Amy rest against his shoulder slurping her runny nose and eyes shocked in a vacant stare unable to express the boil of emotions that had raged inside her for so long and had no resolve when her husband had finally come back.
Midnight and Shadow arrived and walked into the room taking their place at the screen to observe the signal reading.
"Shadow!" a voice called him, as he looked up he was met with a fist going to his nose.
"Rouge!" Shadow stumbled back barely blocking her punch to the face and grunted as her knuckles smacked into the palm of his hand, "What are you doing??!"
"What am I doing? What were you doing!?" She yelled, "We needed you down here, we were a team you asshole! You left to be with some skank that wants to bring the apocalypse to the world?! I thought you had a promise to keep to your stupid little dead girlfriend!" the bat flushed with rage didn't stop at a fist but was fighting as if in the training room ready to use anything to her advantage. Yet Shadow was only on defence and blocked and evaded what little of her attacks he could.
"Skank?!" Midnight hissed, "I'm here to do the opposite of your accusation you jealous hussy, you have a problem with me, you take it up with ME! I'll take you on outside!"
"Midnight no, everyone focus on the problem please!" Shadow blocked yet another attack.
"We are focusing on the problem, you became part of it the minute you disappeared Shadow!" Sonic growled not bothering to intercept Rouge and her beatings on the black hedgehog.
"The bigger problem." Espio growled and finally went to break the two fighting, "Your father is paying a visit it seems."
"My father?" Shadow huffed finally safe as long as Rouge was contained now being held by Vector. "Doom..."
Commander walked through the door with Mephiles strolling in behind him.
"Alright I want everyone to shut up, and only answer when asked and nothing more. Spare me the petty details of who screwed over who."
"Mephiles!" Midnight cheerfully scampered right into the demon's arms as a light purple smoke swirled around him calmly his lizard slit pupils watched Silver from across the room seeing his dazed and frozen mind, his thoughts scattered and unable to be processed, Silver's eyes slowly gazed up to meet them and could swear he saw the slyest of all evil smirks stretched on his grey ragged muzzle.
"Unlike any of you here Team Chaotix identified the object as the Black Commit holding Doom and his army. Now why after what happened last time does the thing think he can come back and stand a chance against us?"
"We're broken..." Silver mumbled, "I remember hearing the stories of that time when I was a kid." His ears jetted back, "Then you all worked together, and not trying to kill each other. No one trusts in each other anymore."
Mephiles' head rose as he erupted laughter, "That's awful intricate doing from thousands of miles away. No creatures like that feed and search for power. The scepters you've been finding are great amounts of immense power. If that creature can detect it then others can as well, and why would a planet be gathering power if it isn't for getting battle ready, for war."
"We've indirectly made a universal cry for war." Commander growled looking back at Mephiles.
"I never request anyone to go finding these scepters and bringing them in one easy accessible location to harmonize their strengths. You're stupid council however did."
"You planned this!" Silver huffed snapping from his pity party.
"Not exactly, but it would be a lie to say I hadn't seen it coming and made plans accordingly." He chuckled, "I'm on 'good behavior' remember? I'm now an ally, a weapon against those who'll bring harm to the planet."
"Not yet." Commander interrupted, "Everyone knows we have Shadow, they're already expecting for us to throw him into the battle. You on the other hand, if you say you're going to help, they have no idea about you."
"A secret weapon? I'm touched, I've never felt so special." Mephiles teased dryly.
"We better come up with a battle plan then and fast, we're seeing dark clouds signifying touch down from Doom." Espio announced as the lights begin to flicker and a growing rumble split the sky and a crash came from outside the building sounding emergency alarms.
"Finally, here comes the fun." Mephiles chuckled watching the shattered group of friends and work partners put their quarrels reluctantly on the back burner and tried to function.
