I let my eyes flutter open softly, and let out a yawn as I stretched. I sighed, closing my eyes again. It's so tempting to fall right back asleep as soon as I wake up each morning. I rolled on to my side, sticking one of my arms under my pillow. My alarm isn't ringing yet, so maybe I have a few more minutes to rest. For some reason, though, I felt much more rested than I usually did when I woke up in the morning.
'Rose?' My wolfs worried voice registered clearly in my mind. I frowned, and then sighed into my pillow. I sat up, rolling my shoulders.
'What's up?' I questioned, getting up out of bed.
'Why is the sun already up?'
My eyes snapped to my window that showed a great view of the rising sun, and then to my alarm clock. My jaw dropped. It was already 6:29AM. Ah, hell.
I began to rush around my room, throwing on the first pieces of clothing in sight. I huffed in frustration as I searched the room for my shoes. I knew I'd be in trouble for not making breakfast, especially since it's Jaces' birthday. He is so going to kill me. I quickly finished dressing, and then began to shove all of my books and papers into my backpack.
As soon as I zipped up my bag, I heard heavy footsteps coming up the stairs. I froze, and closed my eyes. Please don't be Jace.
I jumped when I heard Jace's voice calling me from right outside my door. I cursed under my breath. What the hell am I supposed to do now? I'm screwed.
"Rose," I heard him growl, "Open the door."
"You know, you really shouldn't start the day out angry." I called to him, and he responded by growling louder. I winced. What the hell am I doing? I know I'm only making it worse.
"Open. The. Door." He growled out, and I sighed. What's up with all the growling? I really messed up this time.
I grabbed my key off the bedside table, slowly making my way over to the door. I put the key in the lock, but paused for a second before opening it. Please don't kill me, pretty please with a cherry on top. I twisted the knob and opened the door.
"Look, I'm really sorry I didn't wake up, I stayed up too late-" I froze when I looked up and met Jace's eyes. My jaw dropped as I nearly shifted and lost control of my now very upset wolf. Well. Today just might be the worst day of my life.
Jace was staring at me in surprised silence, and I forced myself to snap out of it. "Oh, no. This cannot be happening." I turned around, and began to pace to the other side of the room. "This is not happening!" I turned to face Jace, who was closing my door behind him. I ran a hand through my hair, looking anywhere but at Jace. "I must be dreaming."
I pinched my arm, hard, but only winced. I turned towards my window again. "Oh God, I'm not dreaming, am I?" I heard the lock to my door click, and spun around to see that Jace had locked it. I pointed at him with an accusing finger. "You are not my mate!"
Jace walked over to me, placing his hands on my shoulder. "Calm down," He said. I gave him a wide-eyed look.
"Calm down?! Do not tell me to calm down!" I pushed his hands away, almost disgusted at the tingles that ran through me when I touched him. I ran my hands down my face, shaking my head. What do I do in a situation like this?
Then I suddenly remembered. I snapped my fingers as a grin spread across my face. "That's it! We can reject each other, and then poof, this is all over!"
