It didn't take long to pack. I just tossed my clothes, toiletries, and notebook into a grey duffel bag provided to me by the agents. I also grabbed my life savings-about two hundred dollars-and shoved it in my back pocket. I tugged on some bright green converse and grabbed my pillow and the duffel bag, then exited my room.

I followed the agents down the staircase and into the main hall, where the other girls from the orphanage stood. They were there to say goodbye, but no one said a word.

Just before stepping through the door, Lisa Conrad hissed in my ear, "Adios, freak."

A thought came to mind, and I stopped in my tracks, considering it. Well, really, I was leaving, so what was the harm?

I turned towards Lisa, and before anyone could stop me, I punched her. In the face. Hard.

She let out a cry and stumbled back, clutching her nose. The others girls gasped and Lisa's nose started to bleed as she gaped at me.

I grinned at her and gave a little wave. "Adios." I chirped. Then I turned and headed out the door.

The car ride was awkwardly silent. I was riding in a sleek black limo, stocked with a tv, fridge, and even a wii. Two of the men sat up front, and one of the men and Vivian sat in the back with me.

We were all silent until Vivian spoke up. "You can use the tv or wii of you want, and feel free to anything in the fridge."

I glanced at the fridge. Well, I was starving...

I reached and opened to door to the mini fridge. It was stocked with things like chips and soda. I pulled out a bag of Lays and tugged the bag open.

"So...you guys didn't really answer me earlier. Where exactly are we going?"

Vivian and the man exchange looks, then Vivian sighed.

"We're heading to an office building where you will be asked a few questions and given some tests. Then you will transferred to a special facility we have for people like you."

I stopped mid chew, my mouth falling open. Vivian cringed slightly, probably at my mouth full of half chewed chips.

I finally managed to swallow, and I quickly started talking.

"Did you just say people LIKE me?! There are other people at the facility? I can meet others?"

Vivian nodded. "They don't have the exact same ability, but they can do other things. X-ray vision, mind reading, super strength...you aren't alone."

My mind raced. Others like me. I knew they existed - in fact both if my parents had abilities. My mom had control over fire and my dad had control over water. But other than then. I never met anyone. And after they died...I've just spent the past seven years feeling alone. Maybe this was my chance to finally be a part of something.

I settled into my seat. I was still suspicious of these people, but now that I knew there were others like me, I was more excited than suspcious. Staring out the window, I watched as buildings passed in a blur. Soon I would meet those other people. I couldn't wait.

The rest of the ride was uneventful. No one said anything. I spent the next two hours staring out the window, watching the world pass by in a blur of buildings and trees. Soon the buildings faded completely and the landscape was entirely forest.

We finally pulled off the main road and onto a dirt side road. We drove down that for about two minutes then finally the building came into view. When I saw it, my jaw dropped slightly. This office building was huge-at least 4 stories. And although we were in the middle of nowhere, this place most definitely wasn't deserted. People walked around, dressed in grey or black. A van pulled out of the side of the building. People hurried around, talking to each other and speaking into walkie talkies. I only saw adults though-no other kids.

"Where are the other people with abilities?" I asked, scanning the grounds.

"We actually only have one other person with abilities here now. This is just where you will have some tests done. All the others-at least, the ones we have found-are at the other facility you will transfer too."

"Oh." I said, slightly disappointed. Only one other person here? That can't be true.

But I would see the others at the facility, I reminded myself.

"What do you mean the ones you have found?" I asked Vivian.

"People like you don't always want to be found." she explained. "They either don't trust us, or simply aren't aware of us. It's our job to locate them and bring them here safely. But we don't know about everyone. There are probably hundreds of people like you we haven't found, but we are working everyday to bring these people to safety."

I couldn't help but notice how...rehearsed that sounded, as if she was reading from a script she had read a thousand times before.

But that didn't matter. A officer opened the limo door and let me out. I stepped onto the dirt ground, and stared up at the building. I was here.

There's the second chapter! Is it maybe getting more exciting? Only like, four people have read this so far but hopefully I will get more readers?

Anyway, hope you enjoyed!
