The flame from the torch which hung on the wall, closest to the stairwell flickered. The dim lighting made it impossible to see him clearly. He stood proud and tall while I retreated to the corner of the room with my legs as close to my body as possible. It was so cold. Too cold.
The room was below fifteen degrees celcius.
I wrapped my arms around my large frame and rocked back and forth on my heels. Mr. Suit seemed to find it amusing.
"You are crazy. Just like the rest of them." And with that, he walked away. He went up the stairs, back with society as I stayed there to rot. My teeth chattered and my whole body shook as the room got colder. My cell had a window that was too small to get through, not to mention the bars that were so close together not even my fingers were able to fit in between.
I was crazy. I was crazy. I was crazy. I was crazy. I was crazy. Crazy like the rest of them. More with powers. More with experience. More with survival skills while I was barely able to keep a friendship together a couple of year back.
Austin was probably looking for me. I hope he was looking for me. Jake. Jake has to be searching everywhere. They would never get to me in time. I was in the less populated area. The road less travelled.
There was a slight possiblility that my friends will find me before I die from thirst.
I licked my chapped lips. I'll give myself about 2-3 days till my body can't handle the lack of water.
"Hello!" I yelled. "HELLO! HELOOO!!!"
Silence.
I rested my head on my knees and closed my eyes. Hoping for a better day.
The birds sang outside and the bright autumn leaves flapped in the wind with hopes of flight but was disappointed with the fact that they gently fall to the ground where cars and people crush them.
I slowly lifted my head and pain shot up my neck. I rubbed the back of my neck and used the wall as a support to help me stand. I looked out the small window. The streets were empty. The roads seemed to go on forever.
"Hey."
I turned in the direction of the voice. A little girl crawled out. She wore a white dress that reached her ankles, it was two sizes too big and it was covered in dirt. She had long black hair that went pass her waist and light grey eyes, her skin was copper and what stood out the most, was the fact that she had two faces. Both of which were covered in smudges of black.
"Who are you?" she asked me. Her voice was dark, sad and it resonated.
"Laurel Vared. It's nice to meet you." I gave her best friendly smile.
"Hi, I'm Joelyn." One of the faces said cheerfully as the other glared at me. "I'm Lilia." she said stiffly.
Two different people in one body. They share a brain but they see different things. I wonder how they go on dates...
"So, why are you here?" Lilia asked.
"They think I'm crazy."
"We all are." Joelyn said knowingly.
"Nobody move." Joelyn whispered. The hair at the back of my neck stood. I held my breath as I waited for what was coming.
Joelyn said, "They're here."
