Chapter Thirteen Reunited
I made it to the gazebo, as well as Chris. "What do you want? Money? Cigarettes? I can-" "What I want is a kiss." "Will you freaking leave me alone after the-" I asked pretty pissed he chased me for a kiss. "If that's what makes you happy" I looked at him a moment and thought it wouldn't hurt. This wouldn't be my first kiss. I can't leave him hanging now that he followed me all the way out here. "Ok let's." "Kiss?" He finished for me. "Yeah." I whispered.
Chris took a step forward. He put one hand around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I gasped when he pulled. "Shh." He said. I wasn't sure what was happening. Chris brushed some hair out of my face with his free hand. Then he slowly leaned in and closed his eyes. I closed mine and waited for his lips to reach mine. Then it happened he kissed me and it was like explaining to me how bad he wanted this to happen. I didn't kiss back but it would've felt wrong if I did. It was like listening to someone tell you one of their deepest secrets and you don't wanna talk over them. He slowly backed off my lips as we stood in the gazebo. Chris didn't take his hand off my waist, it was like he didn't want to let go. "I guess I'll go....leave you alone?" He asked sadly.
"No. I'm so sorry I just thought when you came back you would be someone else." I really didn't want him to go now that I'd felt his secret. He was happy to hear I wanted him to stay and he kissed me once more. This time I kissed back. He wasn't telling me a secret he just wanted to show how happy he was. ""Emily DuChamp you are the most amazing girl I've ever met. I like you so much." Chris said as he turned bright red. "Well that kiss was a big hint." I said and playfully hit him.
We both laughed and he let go of my waist only to grab my hand. "I wanna take you out in a date Miss DuChamp." "You're gonna have to run that by my father according to his rules." "I will. Today." Chris said then left the gazebo running toward my house.
I stayed behind and thought about how quickly my feelings for Chris returned. At this very moment he was asking my fathers permission to take me out. I felt the wind through my hair. Then it hit me, I had never stopped loving Chris Chambers. He had never left my heart. I opened my eyes I was still in the gazebo but I had gotten reassured of my feelings. This is why the old gazebo is my favorite place on this world.
I began spinning around the gazebo. "Whoa there princess." Chris said. "Did you talk to my dad?" "Oh yea. He thinks you are this hardcore biker and he knows about your tattoo-" "Nuh uh!" "I'm kidding!" He laughed. "I don't have a tattoo." "You have more than one?" "No! I don't have any." "Your dad said we have two hours."
I smiled. My dad let us go out. Or maybe Chris didn't take no for an answer. "What are your plans for these two hours?" I asked. "I'm gonna take you to the drive in movies tonight at seven." "Sounds like you've planned this out." "I have. Get ready I will see you at seven baby."
With that note he kissed me on the cheek and left the gazebo. I took my time walking back to the house. This was our first date. If you don't count jumping off a bridge to get away from a train a date. Oh my gosh what am I gonna wear?
I walked inside and went right to the stairs. I overheard my parents talking. "Jim she really loves him she's strolling in the house with a sparkle in her eye." Is that bad my mom can see I'm in love with Chris? "Why couldn't we have more boys?" I let out a giggle and that snapped me back. "Megan come in my room!"
"What?" She mumbled in my room. "I need your help with what to wear." "Wear for what?" She was more curious now. "A drive in movie." I kept it vague. "Well who ya goin with?" "Chris." "Oh la la. Do I need to cover for you?" "No mom and dad already know." Megan gasped. "Yeah yeah. Now are you gonna help me or not?"
After many options we decided on a floral tank top with a black high waisted skirt. I kept my makeup light with just a little mascara. My hair was in a low bun with a few strands of hair loosely hanging out. I loved that I was dressing up for Chris.
It was five til seven when Chris pulled into our driveway. When I heard his truck I ran to the front door. I wanted to be the one to open the door when Chris knocked. As we were on our way to his truck I looked back at the house and saw my dad looking out the window.
Chris pulled into a spot and put it in Park. Previews started on the big screen. Already the people in the car next to us were making out. "Do you want popcorn?" He asked me. "Sure." I replied. "Be right back." Chris left and I focused on the previews and not the people making out. "Look it's Chambers slut of the week." A guy from Johnny's group said to his date. I just ignored the comment and soon Chris returned with popcorn.
The movie started and Chris held my hand. "Chris" I whispered. "I've really missed you." "I've missed you too. I thought about you every day last year. What you told me...about hope. That's what made me think we would be together." I laid my head on his shoulder. The credits began to play and I sat up. Most of the cars had left. "That was fun." He said. I laughed a little and we made eye contact. "I wanna kiss you." Chris whispered. I'm sure he didn't mean to say that out loud.
But I kissed him anyway. Our lips moved together and before I knew it his hands were around my waist pulling me into him. "That was fun." I said. "I can't disagree to that." He smirked at me. Chris drove me home and I thanked him for the night. My dad was watching from the window just as he was when we left. Chris noticed that too but he cupped my face and kissed me anyway. "Goodnight" I said. "Sweet dreams babe."
I walked into the house and Chris left. My dad looked pissed but I walked right by him and went up to my room. "So now he's kissing you?" Gordie stood in front of me with his arms crossed. Crap. He saw that goodnight kiss from the balcony. "Yeah. Gordie he is my boyfriend." "Well you're my sister and he's my best friend so he isn't supposed to kiss you." "Alrighty dad." To be honest Gordie was sounding like my dad but I knew Gordie meant well.
