For those of you who aren't interested in reading a long, expositional notice about the reasoning and process behind this decision, I'll put all the important information at the start and then stick a notice in for where the need-to-know information ends.

Well, this has been a long time coming, but here we are.  This whole notice will be important to read, because its going to contain a lot of reasoning and problem in the writing process that has lead to this decision.

I'm sorry to announce today that this book is discontinued.

Now, I hate discontinuing books, because I really, honestly feel like I'm wasting the time and investment of those of you who have read it.  But after re-reading all of this today and seeing the blatant character assassination, plot holes and poor writing technique and plot, it's pretty safe to say its unsalvageable in its current form.

Notice I said in its current form?

I still really love the characters in this book, and I want to do something justifiable with them.  So whilst it won't be happening any time soon, I want to rewrite - or rather, remake this book.  When it eventually gets written, it may still have Azulia as the main character, but it will most likely have a completely different plot and may not be a Rebels fanfiction either (though it will still be set in the Star Wars universe).

I'm going to leave it posted for those of you who enjoy reading it, but there will henceforth be no other updates.  At the end of this chapter, I will post what was going to happen in the rest of the book from my spotty memory for those of you who want to know, but a lot of the details, I've forgotten myself.

For those who aren't interested in the problems this book faced that led to this decision, this is where you can stop reading. Thank you so much for giving this book your love and time, despite its flaws.  I truly am grateful for each of you.  I am going to quickly plug my book Survivor which is a Clone Wars fanfic and ties into a lot of the material in this book (though technically this book is no longer "canon", so any links between the two aren't there really anymore), so if you want to see more of my better writing, then have a peak.  Otherwise, all I can say is thank you, and to try and convey my gratitude for each person reading this book and notice.

Why has this book stopped?  This is going to be a short list of the reasons.

THE WRITING PROCESS:

Road from Ruin has been subject to several heavy edits, changing it drastically from what it originally was.  Whilst that has made it a better read, I still remember now that I continuously would forget plot points between re-editing, which is why there are plotholes that can be found in the book - places where things don't make sense, because I forgot to write them in; evidence of my junior years as a writer, haha.

This was most evident in the title change, and the lack of post-title change re-edits.  The plot I had in mind originally was largely fantastical and out-of-the-box, which could have been interesting, but it pandered to lots of cliches and I was not an accomplished enough author to pull it off.  Additionally, when I started writing my Clone Wars-era fanfiction, Survivor, it messed up a lot of the story beats in the main character's backstory, as this book and Survivor were initially meant to be linked as a series.  The issue was, whilst Survivor is a book that I want to keep true to Star Wars canon, this book was never aiming for that.  It was written at a time when a lot of the end/post-Clone Wars events outside the Skywalker Saga was left ambiguous to fans.
