Lightning and thunder lit the sky like it ruled the world. It was Mira LeForte's Eleventh Birthday and the lightning was her favorite weather. She was sitting outside in it. Her parents would never know why it was her favorite weather. It just always made her feel safe. People would claim she was the queen of lightning by the way she loved it so.
"Mira, Come inside this instant." Her mother called to her. Her mother was a muggle-born and her father was a pure-blood. Not like she cared about that.
"No. I'm being soothed by the weather that loves me as much as i love it." She called back. Her Mother and Father were confused by that statement. she would always say that and they didn't know what it meant.
"Darling, Your letter came." Her father called as she sighed and stood up in the pouring rain. She moved like she was a part of the lightning. You would have to anticipate when it would come but you would never know exactly. Strangely though, sitting in the pouring rain she never got wet, She would stay as dry as the inside of the house. She walked inside and waited for her Hogwarts Letter. Her father had tricked her into coming inside.
"What house do you suppose that i will be in?" She asked her father. He had no idea. Sure she was Brilliant and could get in Ravenclaw but she was also Brave enough for Gryffindor. She was a good finder, Like a Hufflepuff but also Sly and Cunning like Slytherin.
"I don't know Sweetheart, You are perfect though. I'm sure you will get a great house." Just as he said this Her letter was flown inside the window by a soaking wet owl.
"Thank you Very much." She said as she gave the owl a treat and took her letter. "Lets go get my supplies." She said as the owl Flew away. She just wanted to go back outside but she had to get school supplies.
"That's a great idea." Her mother said with a tight grin. Her mother knew what house her daughter would be in and she didn't want her in that house. She knew that her daughter was a terrible being. Or at least that's what she believed anyways. After all, Going to Hogwarts, Her mother did meet quite a few people from that house and they all seemed rather rude. That was the understatement of the century. Can you guess what house it is? Slytherin.
"Yes, i know. That's why i said we were going to do it. It wasn't an idea, it was a statement." Mira said with a smirk. She loved her mother but she could tell her mother didn't understand her very well. She could tell her mother thought she would be in Slytherin. Her mother hated Slytherins. They used to pick on her.
"Well then, Off we go, School supplies shant wait." Her father cheered as they used the Floo network. Mira had been to Diagon ally multiple times but it never looked quite as bright as then. When she was finally getting to go to Hogwarts. The school that was going to shape her and place her among people who would grow to understand her. Or at least her dad says they would get to understand her. Nobody really would though. She's far too complex.
Mira's POV
I was angry. My mother had never really listened to me. She just picked out the pieces she thought were important. She thought she understood how i thought. She had no clue what so ever. She thought she had me figured out but i'll surprise her. She doesn't understand that it may seem like i think some way but i usually think so differently it's almost alien like.
I was also happy though. I was finally going to Hogwarts. The school i could almost taste. I was ready. We already confirmed me going. It was a good thing too. The school year was going to start in a week. We went around and bought everything i needed and then we went to get ice cream. The storm had passed in the place we lived. I knew because it had started to stop when we left. Such a shame. I really liked that storm.
"What Flavor would you like Mira?" My father asked as i smiled.
"Chocolate." I said as he ordered it. When we got our ice cream we sat down and enjoyed it. The chocolate tasted different. I looked back at the guy who had scooped it. He had a look in his eye that said he did something. I twirled my wand between my fingers. Then i stood up and walked towards him.
"What can i do for you?" He asked with a smirk. He was no older than sixteen. I stared into his eyes.
"Tell me what you've done to the chocolate ice cream." I said smoothly. People near us were looking. I hadn't asked and i hadn't claimed he did something. I just simply told him to tell me what he had done.
"I don't know what you're talking about." He claimed as he couldn't break my gaze into his eyes.
"Darling, If that were true you wouldn't be nervous that i'm asking, you wouldn't try to break away from my stare, and you wouldn't deny it like that. I can read people. Now tell me what you have done." I said with a soft voice. I heard and saw him gulp.
"I may have put some crushed mandrake leaves in it." He muttered to me as i finally released his eyes.
"So you lied to me and you did something to the ice cream. I assume you go to Hogwarts. Going into 6th or 7th year?" I asked as he looked at me in shock.
"6th." He said as a thin smile spread across my lips.
"Fantastic, I'm going into first. If i find out you ever do this again, count yourself out of the students at hogwarts or the population of the world." I said with a nod. He paled.
"O-okay." He stuttered.
"Good, well I best be on my way. Remember me. I hope I keep you up at night." I said as I turned away. That's when me and my parents left.
