It was finally starting to get cool outside, as the autumn air hit your skin leaving a trail of goosebumps. It has been 5 months since the “start of mankind's decline”, as you heard on the news the day of this wretched event. You were never overly strong, but you were cunning and resourceful to even live this long during the apocalypse. You've seen plenty of morbid scenes that at this point you're just numb to the feelings of sadness and the need to be sick.

You were walking back to your small base, when you heard something odd. You turned in the direction of the sound only to see a blond man kicking the shit out of a horde of zombies.

His slender frame stepping over the defeated zombies toward you. Swiftly he reached his hand out to you, almost like a gesture of peace. You never know who you can trust anymore, looters and murders were common in this area.

Almost as if reading your mind the boy smiled gingerly bringing his hand down to his side.

“It's alright if you don't trust me. My name is Sanji” he said kindly.

“Y/n” you said quietly.

“What?”

“My name is y/n”

“That's a lovely name, y/n”

Your cheeks turn a light crimson, as you turn away from him.

“Where is your camp?” You ask looking around for any sign of civilization.

“Over there, through that small forest. What about you?” he said pointing toward a beautiful forest. The leaves of the trees, different shades of reds, oranges and yellows. If it wasn't the apocalypse, you may have stopped and taken a picture.

“Oh. Well. At the moment, I'm just wondering…” you trail off looking toward your feet.

“Well now you can stay with me” he said happily, reaching his hand out toward you again.

If he wanted to hurt me, he probably already would have. You thought as you placed your hand in his.

On your way through the autumn forest, a small group of zombies came toward you and Sanji. Without even thinking you reached toward your thigh and pulled out a small throwing knife. You threw it at the first zombie, hitting it directly in the forehead. Sanji, taken aback by this action stared at you in awe, completely not expecting you to do that.

You continued to swiftly kill the remaining few zombies, as Sanji stood awe struck by your actions.

“I didn’t expect you to be that good” he said to you while you took the throwing knife out of the slain zombies forehead.

“Meh, there’s a reason I’ve made it this far ya know” you said blantly, trying to hide your blush. ”Come on let’s keep moving”

(Small time skip)

You came up to a small little shack that looks like it used to be part of a larger building, that was now rubble and probably already looted.

Sanji took a small key out of his pocket and unlocked the locks keeping unwanted scavengers out. Once the door was open he stepped inside, beckoning you to come in with him.

Now, it wasn't the most glamorous by any means, just a 10 by 10 room with an assortment of strange and misplaced objects. Blankets thrown in a bed like shape in one corner, weapons and metal in another. Despite the current situation outside these four walls it seemed pretty liveable, like you'd want to stay there and hide forever.

There was a small kitchen setup, if you could even call it that, in another of of the corners, pots and pans littered the floor while a makeshift burner, or what appeared to be so, blazed on with a large pot on top of it.

Sanji walked over and sat next to the pot, gently lifting the lid. Hot steam poured out into the air, the beautiful aroma of a hearty stew came with it. Your mouth started to water, as sanji stirred the mixture within the pot.

“Are you hungry (y/n)?” He asked gingerly. At that moment your stomach let out a low growl. “I'll take that as a yes then” Sanji laughed.

Taking a bowl out of a large wicker basket, he ladled some of the stew into it. Handing it to you with a spoon, Sanji gave you a warm smile.

“You know before this all happened, I used to be a cook” Sanji said solemnly. He turned to look back at you, practically shoveling the stew into your mouth. The warm liquid gracing over your tongue, the flavor was outstanding. Sanji started to laugh, as your face turned a bright red.

“I take it you're enjoying it then” you nodded in response, to embarrassed to even open your mouth.

Later that night, you were staring at the small fire in the center of the room unable to sleep. The light casting ominous shadows as you shivered in fear. Since the start of this whole apocalypse, it hasn't really been much of a nice experience. From seeing corpses to being looted numerous times it was all becoming too much.

Sanji came in from the outside with fire wood. He immediately dropped it into the rest of the pile and walked over to you, crouching down in front of you.

You hadn't noticed until now but tears were streaming down your face. Sanji, probably from having the same feelings as you, pulled you into his arms and whispered.

“It's alright, you're not alone anymore, we can get through this together. We will, I promise”

He was right, you were no longer alone all of the terrible things you've seen, he understood. He saw them too. You grew limp, as your tired body melted into Sanji’s arms. Your head lightly resting on his solder. Your now tear stained face resting in the crook of his neck. Sleep started to envelope you as you heard one last thing.

“You will never be alone again, (y/n)
