Amanda’s POV~

A loud crash echoed around the room, making Danny, Lily, and Dennis to look up.

“What was that?” Danny asked, with a perturbed look plastered on his face.

“Um . . .” I bit my lips, looking anywhere but at him. I didn’t want him seeing the horrified look that was sure to be on mine. “Nothing!” Bending down I grabbed my cell phone, and stuffed it back in my jean’s pocket, facing the wall. I didn’t need those blue calculating eyes looking at me.

“Are you sure?” he probed.

By the sound of his voice I knew he wasn’t convinced I was ‘fine’. And he was right. I wasn’t fine. There’s only one person in the entire world who would ever call me ‘Mandy baby’ and that’s Nicholas Carter. Or, demon child—which I prefered to use. But just how in the world did he get my number? And how the fuck does he know what I’m wearing!? Does that mean, he’s somewhere near me?

Shit. Don’t tell me Neal—freak! The email!

“Amanda?” I heard Danny asked in the background, but I wasn’t really paying attention to that. Instead, I was frantically searching through my inbox, looking for one particular email I happened to get the other day.

“Earth to Amanda!”

Finally! As I read that one letter over and over again, I knew it didn’t make any sense as I thought more and more about it. Why would Neal send this one letter and not anything else? He said it was a typo and he meant to say hi, and give me his new number, but why didn’t he just send another email after he realized he only sent ‘H’? Any normal person would do that, wouldn’t they? So why didn’t he?

Unless—it wasn’t him. My eyes widened. Crap! Why didn’t I notice this sooner? How stupid can I be? The clues were right in front of me! Literally!

“Amanda!”

I flipped around. “What!?”

“What the hell is going on?” he demanded, his voice daring me to lie to him. “One minute you’re fine, and the next you’re freaking out. What happened?”

I sighed. Might as well tell him. It didn’t look like lying my way out of this was an option. Not with him staring at me like that. “I think Neal’s missing.”

“Huh?” he asked, looking even more confused than he did a minute ago. “How is he missing? We just saw him yesterday when we were heading to John’s car.”
