Today was the day that I had been waiting for. This day should have came years ago, but I don't mind. I had the courage to tell the police eventually, thanks to Carson.

I got dressed in a fancy out fit today, I had to look nice for court. I wanted to look professional, and I definitely did. I was excited for some strange reason. My nerves weren't even bothering me while I was getting ready.

Declan and I decided that we would stop by and see Carson before we  went to court. I think he thought it would help me go through with speaking, and I'm sure he was right. We got into Declans car and headed to the hospital.

When we got there, we were greeted by a nurse with fantastic news.

"Avalon, Declan," The nurse was smiling. It's sad that she knew us by our names, and we weren't even his family. That proves that Carson has been in here far too long.

"Hi." Declan said, the both of us smiling back.

"So, Carson has made major progress over night. We were even able to take some tubes out of him. The doctor and I truly believe he has a fighting chance now, We were wrong to ever doubt him." That's exactly what I needed to push me through the day. I knew it was Carson doing his part. He was fighting and getting better, now it was my turn to fight to overcome my fear. If he could do it, I could do it.

Declan and I headed up to his hospital room to see him for a few minutes, and give his grandmother time to go get something to eat.

"Did the nurse tell you?" His grandma asked as we walked through the door, her face full of pure excitement.

"Yes! It must be such a relief for you. He already looks better." Declans excitement was obviously noticeable as well.

He was right, Carson did look better. He hadn't been looking like himself at all, not since any of this had happened, not until now. He looks like he's coming back to life, his face is starting to return to the beautiful shade it was, he just looked so much better.

"I'm going to go down and get something to munch on." I gave her a hug and she headed out of the door.

I walked over to Carsons bedside, looking at his face. I rubbed his hair gently, my fingers barley brushing against him. Just seeing him in such an amazing condition after what I had been seeing him in gave me hope. I knew he was going to make it, and he had proved that to me. I have to have the strength to prove to him now.

Declan was getting emotional, which was something I had rarely ever seen. He was a big tough football player, why was he crying. Just as I was thinking that, I felt a slight grip on my hand, and looked down. Carson was squeezing a little. I tried to hold back the tears so my makeup didn't run.

I didn't understand, he wasn't awake, but he was squeezing my hand? I don't understand how that's possible. I don't care, the little things were what mattered now. The little things gave me hope.

*Later on that day*

"I call my witness Avalon Carter to the stand." The attorney that was on my defense spoke.
