I was woken to the whir of the microwave downstairs.
' must be decebel.' I thought. I checked my clock, 9:30.
" great." I grumbled to myself. School had started an hour ago. I pulled a hoodie over my top and slumped down the stairs in my pyjama shorts. As I thought, Decebel was trying to heat up the left over bacon and eggs and cook toast, but was failing. There was six slices of black, burnt toast on the sink, egg all in the inside of the microwave and bacon dropped on the floor. I shook my head, just another reason why boys shouldn't try and multitask. I cleared my throat, getting his attention. He laughed nervously and retreated from the disaster zone. Figuring none of it was salvageable, I through it in the bin, cleaned up and started toast and pop tarts. Decebel looked pleased when I came to him with yet another plate of food.
" now what to do today." He said as he shovelled food into his mouth.
" have your been shopping in New York yet?" Food fell out of his mouth as he talked.
" nope, haven't left Brooklyn yet."
" having been dragged along with raven and Ava I know the best places to go."
" but what about school?" I questioned.
" what about it? It's already 2 hours in."
" yeah but with yesterday's events and all..." I trailed off.
" oh, right." He paused " screw them!" Food flew across the room as I laughed at his words.
" let's go already!"
" but you don't have any clothes."
" can't I just go in this!" He motioned to his bright blue underwear he was wearing.
" oh yeah of course you can."
" good." He got up and strolled out the door. I shook my head and went up stairs to have a shower. When I opened the door Decebel greeted me, now wearing clothes. I jumped when I saw him and almost dropped my towel.
" where'd you get them from?" He was wearing jeans that clung to his hips loosely, a grey singlet with a skull on it and a pair of boat shoes.
" amazing how much these things cost at the thrift shop."
" You went there in your underwear?"
" yeah! Doesn't bother me."
I felt my towel start to slip from around me. I left Decebel to fix his hair and headed to my room. I picked my ankle jeans rolled up, cut off singlet and white low top converse without socks. I grabbed a back pack and shoved my purse, a bottle of water I grabbed from the kitchen and my phone in it. I had to admit Athena picked pretty good clothes. I straightened my hair and put on my make up while Decebel played with his hair and grabbed his phone and wallet. We headed out the door and hailed one of the few cans around. The cabbie sped off into the highway and over the Brooklyn bridge to New York.
The taxi dropped us off a block from time square. When we got there it was bustling with people. I was eager to look at all the new shops.
" where to first, tour guide?" I joked with Decebel.
" many places but first forever 21, all 5 levels of it." I almost screamed. 5 levels if clothes. I dragged him through the crowd towards the massive sign. The first floor was massive with high ceilings and polished floors. I flicked through the racks then headed to the next level with a few dresses in my hands. The second floor consisted if half men's, half women's.
" perfect," I said " time to get you some clothes."
" great." He mumbled. I grabbed him black jeans and denim jeans, a few of the singlets he liked and a cheep pair if black slip on shoes. While on level two the clothes in my hands got bigger until we got to level five where I had to get Decebel to hold some of them. The women manning the change rooms gave me a disapproving look when she saw how much clothes I wanted to try on, but she let me through. Decebel and I tried on our clothes, taking too many selfies in the mirror on the wall. When I hand finally finished I had purchased a black dress with a cut out back, lacy denim shorts, singlets like Decebel wears and jeans. Decebel reluctantly bought the clothes I had picked out for him. I payed with the credit card Athena had given me and we headed to our next destination, Aeropostale. Once inside Decebel found some clothes he liked better and I, yet again, tried on millions of clothes. As we walked over to Bryant park for lunch my hands were full of bags.
" you want a soda?" He asked
" sure. I feel like coke." I fiddled with my bags trying to get my purse from my backpack. Decebel put his Han on my arm to stop me.
" it's on me. Mans gotta pay for his girls lunch." He winked at me. Exhausted already from shopping I sat down in one of the metal chairs by the grass. Even though we were in the middle of spring, the grass was still growing after being a ice rink for winter. Decebel returned with two cokes and macaroons.
" one more destination." He smiled his beautiful smile.
" argh," I groaned. " do we have to?"
" ah ok."
" thank god! After two shops I'm already tired." We hailed one of the millions of taxis and made our way back to Brooklyn.
Decebel phone rang while we were in the cab.
" hello? Oh hey drew. Dude no! Argh fine. We'll see you there. Bye." I raised an eyebrow at him.
" we're meeting the others at the skate park near school in a hour. School will be finished by then" as we reached my apartment we paid the driver and got out.
