(Five years later)

After accepting my mother's death and my father's actions, I rented out the guest suite of Jason's family's house and paid them monthly. I realized that I was interested in politics and am considering a career in law. I am now a senior at Jefferson High School. Jason and I are still the best of friends and he helped me join a rehab group that I was apart of during my freshmen and sophomore year. The group helped me through my depression and self-harm incidents. But now that you are caught up let's continue with my life.

"Hey Car," Jason said as he hugged me. We have become so close these past few years and I couldn't help but hug him back.

"So Friday night is Take Your Friend to the Movies Day according to google. You wanna come," Jason asked.

"Sure," I said. "If I don't have anything better to do." He laughed and we headed off to class.

...

Friday came sooner than I thought. I rambled through my closet, trying to find a cute outfit that didn't make me look like a slut. I finally settled on a pair of ripped jeans, a gray crop top, and white converse. I applied a new coat of nude lipstick and perfected my mascara before exiting my room to join Jason in the family room. It will be nice for the two of us to have some alone time. With school and sports, the two of us were more like two ships passing in the night. As I walked in the room I noticed a short, skinny girl with long blond hair and bright blue eyes staring at me.

"Carly this is Sarah and Sarah this is Carly. She is gonna join us for the night," Jason said smiling at Sarah.

"Nice to meet you," she said. "I love your outfit. And omg your eyes are so pretty." God, she's pretty and nice, no wonder Jason invited her; she is the total package.

"Thank you. It's nice to meet you too," I said putting on a fake smile.

"So I am gonna get the car and you two can just wait down here, okay?" Jason said, still looking at Sarah.

"Okay!" Sarah and I said in unison. Jason walked out the door and Sarah's true colors came out.

"Omg he is so hot. I can't wait for the movie. I hope it's a scary one so I can cuddle with him. I hope he's a good kisser," Sarah said. "Oh and by the way, back off. He is mine. I already called dibs. And plus it is so obvious he is into me and isn't into you." Jason was about to walk in when she added,

"Oh and by the way, you're such a slut," she whispered scanning my outfit. At that, she walked up to Jason and put her hand in the crook of his arm.

"Shall we," she said and the two of them walked out the door.

"C'mon Car, we're gonna be late," Jason yelled.

...

Jason and Sarah sent me to go get popcorn and I reluctantly did so. But when I came back I saw Sarah and Jason making out in the middle of the movie theater. I don't know why but tears started to flood into my eyes. I dropped the popcorn and sprinted out of the theater. I found the nearest bus stop and caught it just in time to get a ride home.

Why was I jealous of Jason and Sarah. Jason and I are just friends. I mean sure he is smart, funny, supportive, and absolutely gorgeous but...OH MY FUCKING GOD! I like Jason. I ran off of the bus and sprinted into my room. I collapsed on my bed and cried.

"Carly sweetie, are you okay?" Jason's mom asked.

"Um, well, yes... maybe... no," I stuttered. Jason's mom sat down next to me and took me in her arms.

"What's going on?" she asked. And I told her. I told her what Sarah said and I told her how I think I liked Jason; I told her everything.

"I see. Well first of all, Sarah is a total bitch. As second of all, I knew the moment he brought you home in sixth grade that he liked you. Talk to him. You might be surprised," she said.

...

Jason walked through the door an hour later and walked straight into my room. I was asleep but I could hear him walk into my room.

"Carly," Jason whispered. I didn't respond. He walked over and saw that I was sleeping. He pulled a blanket over me and laid down next me. He wrapped his arms around me tight and I began to scoot towards him. We just laid there in complete silence until he finally said,

"Sarah and I are nothing. I thought she was cute and invited her along. The truth is..." he said stopping. "I invited her to make you jealous. But as soon as she called you a slut and ugly, I pushed her away and left her stranded at the movie theater."

"What?" I said. "Why would you try to make me jealous? You hurt me Jason, you hurt me really bad," I said tears streaming down my face.

"Because I am a man who doesn't like his pride broken. This was a way I could find out if you liked me back without actually asking you. I know now it was stupid and I promise to never do it again." He held me tight and leaned close to me. I thought he was going to whisper something to me so I turned me head only to find that my lips were connected with Jason's. He pulled away quickly and left the room.

"Jason," I said.

"Yes," he said looking at his shoes.

"Will you stay with me tonight?" I asked. At that he plopped down next to me and got under the covers. He wrapped his arms around me once more and I started to drift off to sleep.

"Carly," Jason whispered.

"Yes Jason."

"I love you."
