It had been five years. Five years since the fire. Five years since the flames, five years since the hellhounds. As of today, it had been five years since the death of Joanna Beth Harvelle.
And Dean Winchester could barely live with himself.
It had been the longest five years of his life. Every day he had to live with the feeling of guilt. She had gotten herself clawed severely trying to protect him. He should have stood up. Should have protected her himself. But it was too late. But after half a decade, he decided to do something. Something he hasn't done in a while.
Dean Winchester was going to sell his soul.
Was it a risky move? Hell yeah. But was it worth it? Of course. He'd give anything to see her again; her smooth skin, her beautiful golden hair, and those perfect brown eyes that always had that certain sparkle. And now, he was going to bring her back. She's gonna be pissed, definitely. But he doesn't care. He doesn't care if he gets a day, or even an hour. All that matters is that he gets to see her.
It was around eleven at night, and lucky for Dean, there just happened to be a crossroads right around The Roadhouse. He already knew what to do; this wasn't his first rodeo. Or time dealing with demons. After the whole procedure, he put the small box in the center of the crossroads, and waited patiently.
"Winchester... Been awhile since I've seen one of you boys around here..."
Dean spun around, looking at the skimpy demon in front of him. It was the usual; curly hair, little black dress.. Hey, at least it wasn't a guy.
"Just... shut it. I'm here to make a deal. You specialize in that, right?"
She took a step closer, smirking up at the older brother.
"Why, it just so happens I do... What would you perhaps be interested in? Normal life? Settle down? Ooh, is this about that one brunette? What was her name.. Lisa, I believe-"
"You shut your damn mouth right now. I am here for a certain reason. And if you want to live, you better shut the hell up or I will cut those painted lips right off of your pretty little face. Understood?"
With a simple scoff, she folded her arms and rolled her eyes.
"What'll it be?"
Alright, Dean. Deep breath.
"You see that bar over there? Well, a girl used to work there. Prettiest damn thing in the world. And.. I want her back. You gotta bring her back.."
Already on the verge of tears, the demon looked at him disgustedly.
"Alright, whatever. Please, just don't do that. Feelings are...ew."
Placing a hand on the back of his neck, she pulled him down, whispering against his lips.
"You got a day, Dean. I can't do any more."
Before she could say anything else, he sealed the deal with a small kiss, opening his eyes to see just the night before him. But just when he thought he was alone again, he heard a voice, meek and small. The voice of an angel, in his mind.
"Dean?"
