Dan's Job In The Woods (A DanTDM fanfiction)

Chapter 6

Dan and Chris soon found out they were wasting their time, for they had travelled through the treetops since forever and still haven't found the edge of the woods.

"Chris, maybe we should go back. We've been up here for how many hours already and still no luck!" Dan complained, his legs and arms feeling tired from all the climbing, jumping and tree hugging.

"Maybe you're right," Chris said with a hint of disappointment in her voice. Dan felt sympathetic. "We can still look around one more time if you'd like," Dan said encouragingly.

"Nah, my legs are tired and covered in blisters... why not we try going to that pond we saw? We can dip our feet into the cool water," Chris felt great just thinking about her blister covered feet chilling in the refreshing water.

"Sure!" Dan agreed and they traced their footsteps until they got to the pond. Chris scanned the area carefully before descending to the ground. Dan followed cautiously.

"Ok, I think we're safe for now. Lets hurry and refresh ourselves before darkness falls," Chris said quickly while pulling off her sneakers. "I think I'll pass and keep watch. You never know when something might happen," Dan called to her.

'Maybe I'll look around for a weapon...' Dan thought as he started to wander off. As he was searching through tall clumps of grass, he heard something rustling near by. Dan turned around and listened carefully.

'There it is again... ' Dan attempted to grab a large stick which was laying near his feet. Before he was able to lift it off of the ground, an animatronic appeared out from behind a huge oak tree.

"Hmm... HEY DAN!" Chris yells out for Dan. She could sense something wasn't right when he didn't reply. She lifts her feet out of the pond and retrieves her sneakers. 'He couldn't have gone far, right? '

She cups her hands around her mouth to yell out Dan's name again when she heard a scream. "DAN!" Chris starts running towards the sound of the scream. Then she hears heavy running footsteps coming towards her.

She freezes in fear, her feet refusing to move. The next thing she knows Dan runs into her yelling "RUN!" as he pushes her around to run in the opposite direction. As they both start running in the direction Chris was coming from, she hears big and heavy things running after them.

She looks over her shoulder to discover a group of 6 gnarly animatronics chasing them, growling and snarling angrily. Dan and Chris start running blindly not knowing where to go, and it was becoming dark. Just then Chris remembers somewhere they could go.

She catches up with Dan and yells "FOLLOW ME, I KNOW SOMEWHERE SAFE!" while swerving to the right. Dan, with the sudden change of direction, wasn't able to fully cope and runs into a tree while passing out.

Chris notices Dan wasn't in pursuit and turns around to see animatronics surrounding Dan. One of the animatronics comes in for the kill. "NO!" Chris yells while grabbing a huge rock and throwing it at one of the robots.

It turns around and, its eyes glowing red with anger, starts running towards Chris with it jaws wide open. "Shit..." she says and starts running. 'Aha! I've got an idea,' she says to herself. She picks up speed and starts to run towards the pond.

She gets nearer to the pond and at the last second, swerves to the left with unbelievable speed. And as she hoped, the animatronic runs straight into the pond with a huge splash. Chris then looks in the direction of where Dan's passed out to find that the animatronics have gone.

"That's weird..." she says out loud. She starts running towards Dan. "Dan! Buddy, you alright?" She helps Dan to sit up. "Jeez, my head and chest really hurt..." Dan murmurs. "At least your alive, the animatronics almost killed you!" Chris tells him.

"C'mon, lets find somewhere safe to spend the night, cause its getting dark and we're lost. I have no idea where the tree house is and I highly doubt you do." Chris stands up and helps Dan to his feet.

"We gotta hurry before more animatronics arrive... you're bleeding! " Chris noticed that Dan's forehead was bleeding. "Oh that... I ran into a tree," Dan explains. "We gotta wrap that up before it gets infected... ooh that's deep," Chris moves Dan's fringe to take a closer look.

"Don't worry, it doesn't really hurt," Dan says pushing his fringe back into place. "Cause you're in shock, Dan. And I advise you to keep your fringe away from that cut," Chris places her hands on her hips. "Nah, now lets go and find that 'safe' place," Dan reminds her.

"Ah, right. Lessgo!" Chris starts making her way through the woods. "Boy, I sure wish we had a flashlight," Dan says. Chris agrees.

Jemma searches around for the information paper that Dan got. "Its gotta be here somewhere..." Jem mutters to herself. "Aha! Found it," she exclaims after finding it underneath the bed. She starts searching for a phonenumber. "Hmm... Ross is his name, huh? Alright," she grabs the phone and starts dialing in Ross' number.

Ross just finished making an instant dinner when his phone started ringing. "Seriously? Now? Ugh..." Ross complains while walking over to his phone. "Ross here, what do u want?" He rudely says into the phone. "Well!" Jemma replies, shocked with his response.

"I have reason to believe that you are Daniel Middleton's boss. I'm his wife and he hasn't returned home for 2 days already. What's going on?" Jemma demands over the phone. "Whoa, whoa. Alright, first of all I'm getting ready for dinner and second of all I don't know what you're talking about," Ross hangs up.

"Hey-!" Jem wasn't able to say another word. "Rudeness..." she mumbles. Ellie and Darcie walk up to Jem sensing that she's worried about something. 'Maybe I should call the police...' Jem starts to dial in 911 when she hears a knock at the door.
