I sat with Olive and started to braid her hair while Emma paced around the room.
"So, there is crazy stuff happening..."
"That's what I've been saying. Maps and I found a cave, then when we brought Jo with us, people were coming to do a ritual!" Olive said, moving her hands around wildly.
Emma nodded. "This town is really weird. Julian told me..."
I didn't listen to what she said after mentioning Julian. Yes, I liked Emma, but....
"Well we need to use that then." Maps said excitedly.
"Guys we need to tell somebody." I said solemnly. Olive turned around and grabbed my wrist.
"No!"
Her eyes were wide with fear, then they softened and she took my hand.
"We can't Jo, they'd kill us, or worse..." I could see worry shadowing her eyes. I squeezed her hand and nodded.
"Okay, I won't tell." She relaxed and stared at me for a good minute, then looked away, her hand still grasping mine.
"Anyways. It's almost time for dinner so I gotta go." Emma declared and left. Maps nodded and picked her stuff up.
"I gotta go too. Kyle is very protective these days." And with that, she left too.
Olive laid back on my bed and looked at me quietly. I reached out and gently stroked her hair. A smile appeared on her lips and she gently grabbed my hand.
"You're so silly Jo."
I didn't realize what I was even doing. I blushed out of embarrassment.
"S-sorry. I'm used to playing with my friend's hair when I'm nervous...."
"It's okay. I liked it actually, no one really likes my hair."
"I like you and your hair."
"Well, most people aren't like you."
We talked more about the town, then she left, leaving me alone.
Well, my uncle was somewhere.
I got up and looked around, finding that there were a lot of empty rooms, but then I stumbled upon one room.
The door was white, separating it from the oak colored doors. Of course, curiosity got the best of me. I opened the door and walked in. The walls were a soft pastel pink color, there were a few boxes, filled with pink baby toys and clothes. I saw a pure white crib that held pink blankets and a few pink stuffed animals. Why did my uncle have a nursery?
I walked out and closed the door, then went to the back to look for him. Turns out, he was in the hot tub the whole time.
"Hi!"
"Hey. I didn't know you had a pool."
"I didn't tell you? Oh. Sorry."
I walked over and sat next to the edge.
"Sooooo how are your friends?"
"Good. I think."
