It wasn’t Patricia’s day. Or perhaps even her week. Indeed, the trash can from Patricia’s room proved that much. Over the last few days, nearly everything that could be thrown had been thrown against a wall and broken.

It had all started with that cursed meeting. Patricia had been forgotten, she’d been passed by! It should have been her big day, not Jessica’s! Of course, Patricia had told herself countless times, she didn’t want to marry Scott, so she should be glad that was now Jessica’s duty. However, Patricia was the oldest. She should have been first to get married! Mortimer should have seen that, he should have announced her marriage first. He had ignored Patricia, as if she didn’t even exist!

That had started her week badly. It had only gotten worse. Josh was keeping secrets from her. Ever since the family meeting, he had stopped his daily walks. His entire schedule, which Patricia had carefully researched, had been overthrown. So naturally, she had confronted Josh. What was he doing?

The results of that confrontation hadn’t been what Patricia’d expected. Josh was mad, saying she’d been spying on him. It hadn’t been spying, Patricia had tried to explain, it was simply curiosity. So she asked what he was doing now. And the nerve Josh had shown her! Saying it wasn’t her business! It was completely her business, because he was her prince Charming. Naturally, she hadn’t told him that. He would reject her if she’d have told him under those circumstances. So she’d asked him again and again. There was only one conclusion from his refusal to answer; there was another woman.

And so, Patricia’s entire week had been ruined by the idiotic men in her family. Sometimes, sometimes she was just so ashamed of being related to such a bunch of heartless idiots.

Downstairs, her mother yelled that there was a guest. Josh, her mother told her. Patricia answered that she didn’t want to see him. She turned around and locked the door. She’d been heavily mistaken in Josh, she thought. He wasn’t the perfect man for her if he couldn’t trust her.
