April 17, 2013: Emerson Lee was tired and everyone could tell. He had bags under his eyes, his stubble was growing, and he was constantly tired. He had been assigned by Major Keeve to look in to the murder-suicides, and the case was being a bitch to him. He had got to the police station at 6 a.m. yesterday and hadn’t left since then. After 30 hours of non-stop madness, he was ready to get home and lie down.
However, things were not going to work in his favor. As soon as he exited the police station, a throng of reporters and citizens greeted him, all clamoring for his attention. He looked down the street, and it seemed that everyone within a 100-yard radius was focused on him, except for a man in a grey jacket sitting on the bench across the street.
Emerson tried to shove his way through the mass, but the people would not relent. Lieutenant Lee finally realized he was going to have to play things their way, but said that he would only take one question.
“What do you think the purpose of this is?” asked a female reporter.
“Well, I’m not entirely sure, but evidence has shown that all three murderers had only been at their job for less than six months. It is possible that the victims owed debt to someone, and that person inserted the perpetrators into their respective jobs in order to collect the money. However, that still wouldn’t explain the suicide, but as I said earlier we aren’t really sure at this point.”
Suddenly the street lights all flickered out as well as the police station lights, leaving them in partial darkness.
A voice boomed from the police station intercom “I’m sorry that is incorrect, but thank you for playing.”
As the lights turned back on, Lee noticed that the man on the bench was gone. As people dispersed from the building, Emerson rushed over to the bench, and his suspicions were confirmed.
