Chapter One-Sarah

Pain. Fear. Panic. I need to leave, I have to get out of here! Where's my bag? God dammit where is it? Reaching into the closet once more to find my ticket out of this hell hole only to come up empty handed. Shit shit shit he found it im dead! Running to my dresser and pulling out clothes only to hear the front door slam. Pure dread and fear run through every inch of my body as I look for an escape.

"Oh sweetheart I'm home!" Shit his voice is getting closer. I rush to put everything back where it was hoping he wouldnt notice. " Im in the bedroom!" Sitting on the bed trying to calm my breathing and praying today was a good day. Hearing his footsteps round the corner I'm faced with him.

" Hello darling" He snarls with a sinister smile on his face. " Looking for something?" Dangling from his disgusting hand is my bag! He did find it!

" Oh you found it! I was planning to surprise you and get your things packed before you got home. I wanted to take you away for the weekend, away from all that work." The lie falls from my mouth just as I rehearsed. He drops the bag and slowly walks towards me. Suddenly my head slams into the wall and I struggle to breathe with his hands around my neck.

" Tsk tsk sweetheart you know lying makes it worse for you" He grins maliciously as he-

Jolting upright in the bed gasping for breath as my nightmare wakes me once again. Turning off my alarm and strolling my way into the kitchen to make some coffee I listen to the sound of cars wiz by the house. I walked into the kitchen only to nearly die of a heart attack. " Dammit Josh we need to get you a bell so I can hear you around the house. I almost died of fright you jerk!" Josh is my older brother who is going to get his ass kicked for scaring me.

"Aw Im sorry Sarah I was trying to be quiet so I didnt wake you! Do you want some pancakes? I was just finishing up the batter." He says with a warm smile his face. Josh is every girls dream guy; Tall, dark, and handsome. But to me he's just my disgusting older brother who never puts the toilet seat down.

"What time is it?" I ask completely exhausted. "8 o'clock" My eyes widen in realization that Im gonna be late for work! " Shit! Gotta go love you!" I run into the bedroom and throw on some black leggings and a knit sweater. "Josh! Have you seen my sneakers?!" I ask running into the kitchen. "By the door. Have a good day and be careful Sarah-bear."

I check my watch to see I have 10 minutes to run to work. I race down the street weaving through people along the sidewalk. "Excuse me! Pardon me! Coming through!" When suddenly I run face first into a wall. A wall that smells like smoke. Arms reach out to steady me and it hits me that this wall is not a wall but actually a person! Not just any person a man! " I'm so sorry sir" I mumble looking down at my old worn converse. " Oh you're fine are you okay?" That voice comes out so calm and smooth like melted chocolate.

I lift my eyes up to see the person behind that voice. Dark blue eyes filled with concern stare back at me and I'm at a complete loss for words. " Y-yes sir im fine" I manage to stutter out while my eyes stay locked with this stranger. I snap out of it and immediately pull back once I realize how stupid I'm being. " Im terribly sorry sir. I uh I need to go!" I turn my eyes towards the ground once more and continue running.

With 3 minutes to spare I opened the door and welcomed the smell of freshly cooked food and warm apple pies. Danny's Diner makes you feel at home, with warm smiles and comforting food. " Sarah we thought you werent coming! You barely made it but since its your first day I'll make an exception." "Thank you so much Diane it wont happen again!" I said walking to the back of the diner to retrieve my uniform.

" Sarah you have guests at table 6" Its mid afternoon and its getting busy but most of these people are regulars so they just order their usual quickly. I made my way over to my table " Hi there my name is Sarah and I'll be your waitress today" I lift my eyes from my notepad only to lock eyes with dark blue ones. The same dark blue eyes from this morning.
