Tiger Journey [SHORT STORY]

Chapter 4: The Chase

Dawnzy hid in a bush and watched closely. She smelled the smell of the evil lion around here earlier, so she was determined to catch him. She saw the bushes across from her rustle. A puny lion crept out form it, followed by two tiger cubs.

Dawnzy jumped out at the lion. "AHA!"

The puny lion screamed and made a run for it. The cubs started to beg for Dawnzy to stop. Dawnzy ignored them and ran after the lion. The lion was a female, and was very weak looking. There wouldn't be a point throwing her into the pit because she looked weak enough to die any day now. The cubs raced after Dawnzy. Now this was turning into a chase. Then the female lion stopped running.

"Stop! I was returning them!" She wailed, collapsing on her side.

"Oh yeah? So you weren't the hairball that murdered Baby Klondike?" Dawnzy challenged.

The lioness shook her head. "I found them after King Toni from the Quake Pride killed my pridemates. I think King Toni has other cubs that aren't lions, but I couldn't get to them."

Dawnzy nodded. She looked at the little cubs. "Is this true?" She asked.

The cubs nodded. "Auntie Qwin wants to take us home now," Baby Diego added.

Baby Hans nodded too. Auntie Qwin, the lioness, sighed. "I will go rescue the other cubs now, so you can take them home."

"No way! You take them and tell them I sent ya. Trust me, if you have the cubs enter behind you then I'm sure you won't be thrown in the pit," Dawnzy said.

"Okay, thank you. But be careful! King Toni has guards all over the place in that cub camp," Auntie Qwin sighed before standing and leading the cubs towards tiger territory.
