"C'mon, Ace!" I called down the hallway. I looked pleadingly at Julian. He groaned and turned to walk back up the stairs to get our son. I held onto my baby son, Kaiser, as I watched the other kids.
The sextuplets were five and a half years old, and today was their first day of kindergarten.
After a moment of waiting impatiently, Julian appeared with the little monkey around his neck. "All set?" He asked. I nodded and began to usher the kids outside. The bus would come to pick them up at the bottom of the driveway. Once all six were prepared, we gathered them for a group picture. I mean, what mom doesn't gush about her kid's first day of school? Then, I gave them each an extra big hug.
"Mommy, when does the bus come?" Holly whimpered.
"In just a minute, Honey." She nodded and skipped off to join the others.
Callie and Ace were now hand-in-hand, skipping around the yard. Zac was playing in the grass. Donny and Rome were playing Star Wars together, adorabley.
"Do you think we raised them well?" I asked Julian nervously.
"Babe, of course! You're SuperMom and me, well we all know that I'm just awesome at everything." He winked at me.
"Well then, does that mean its a good thing that I'm pregnant?" I asked casually.
"Yupp- wait, you're pregnant?" He exclaimed, grinning. "That's great, Em!" He picked me up and spun me around, regardless of the fact that our two year old son was still in my arms.
"I'm the luckiest girl in the world!" I beamed, knowing that at one point I'd thought this was all a mistake. What would've happened if I had never put up with the pregnancy? Sometimes, the best things have to come from the worst.
