I am one of the lucky ones
I get to stand with the brave and the strongWith the man who has done little wrong
With the women who sit without a twitch
With the children who never hide and take it all in their strideWe are told we face a mountain
So we drink from the eternal fountainWe know what must be done
Which we do with ready smiles and playground funTender of heart,
Even when it all seems futile,
We are here ready and willing to smileBeauty is all we see,
A calmness we emit to all others and meEach step gets harder before it becomes easier
At times complications arise
Trying to snatch away the ultimate prizeFor we are the chemo warriors,
We do not need fear the terminal
We understand what needs be doneWe are the chemo warriors,
We write it all down in our journals
We understand that we must never lose sight of the oneThe thing we are fighting for
The most precious commodity in this life
The right to TIME
With the ones we loveA/N dedicated to those who have, those who are and those yet to go through chemotherapy. Stay strong, Chemo Warriors, you are not alone!
