Opened Eyes (Book One Moonlight)

Chapter 1

It was the day Cloudfur was having kit. Cloudfur's mate, Stormchaser bounded across to the nursery excitedly. He stepped in looking for Cloudfur. She was lying on a big patch of moss breathing heavily. Frostfur the medicine cat stepped in and ran toward Cloudfur. " Can you step outside for a moment Stormchaser?" Frostfur asked politely. " yes, anything that will help her" Stormchaser said stepping outside. A little later he heard a shriek. "Stormchaser!" Frostfur yelled. He knew the kit was ready. He tiptoed inside and saw a dazzling kit sitting upon Cloudfur. "It's a girl" Cloudfur said happily. "What should we name her?" asked Stormchaser. "What about Windkit?" Cloudfur suggested. " What a great name" Stormchaser agreed. While Cloudfur and Stormchaser were touching noses, Rosestar called every cat to the highrock. Cloudfur gently set her kit down on the patch of moss next to the rest of the kits, then walked out with Stormchaser to the highrock with the rest of the cats.

" Thank you for coming" Rosestar said rising higher. "You all are probably wondering who this cat is" She said. Every Cat glared at the cat being dragged by some of warriors that have been on the patrol.

It was a greyish black cat with a brown muzzle and a white chest. Cloudfur could tell it was a she cat by the way she looked. " The patrol found a cat in our territory hunting" Rosestar growled. Cats in the crowd whispered and gasped. " What clan is she from?" one cat said from the crowd. " I don't have a clan" the young she cat sneered. "We should kill her!" a warrior growled.

"We would never kill a cat unless we have to" Rosestar

argued. "Let her go" Rosestar ordered. The warriors dropped the she cat while she hissed. Cloudfur noticed a shiny collar draped around

the she cat. "She is a kittypet!" one cat growled in the crowd.

Rosestar ordered the deputy Graypelt to grab the collar. He ripped the collar off the kittypet and handed it to Rosestar. "Her name is Lily." Rosestar said looking at the collar.

"Why are you out here" Rosestar asked. "I ran away!" Lily said looking at all the staring eyes.

"Every cat is dismissed" Rosestar exclaimed jumping off.

She stepped inside her den and all that remained was her tail. Cloudfur and Stormchaser went back to the nursery. "Come on in Cloudfur" Brokenjawsaid welcoming.

She stepped inside and went to her nest. "Hey you can't come in" Brokenjaw said staring at Stormchaser. He backed away peering inside the nursery. He skidded to his den with the rest of the warriors.

"Hey Stormchaser" Skinnypelt welcomed. She was a thin pale cat that had a sweet smile. Stormchaser dipped his head in greeting. He curled up on a patch of moss in the corner. "are you going in the patrol tonight?" Skinnypelt asked sitting next to him. "Yes" he murmured. "Well get some rest" she said laying down on a patch of moss next to him.

Stormchaser closed his eyes and put his paws under his head. Screeches came from the nursery. He shot up and ran over. Brakenclaw a Leafclan warrior was carrying Cloudfurs' kit in his mouth.

Stormchaser ran toward and clawed him him catching the kit. Brakenclaw bit him and took the kit and ran for the entrance. Stormchaser got up and ran to the entrance and leaped onto him. Brakenclaw escaped and ran faster than he could.

He tried to run after him but another warrior from Leafclan came and pushed him down. Stormchaser swung around and saw it was the deputy, Longtail. Longtail swung his tail back and forth and snapped at Stormchaser. Keeping Stormchaser distracted, Longtail ran away from Stormchaser and skidded around the fortrees. He could not catch up.

He ran to the nursery and ignored Brokenjaw who was sleeping and ran to Cloudfur who was still snoozing. "Wake up!" he said with a stern look on his

face. Cloudfur woke up and saw the empty patch of moss next to her. "Where is my kit?!" she yowled. "Leafclan warriors took her!" he said holding back anger in him. Cloudfur got up and ran to the entrance of the camp. "Wait!" Stormchaser said as he ran to her.

She ran the direction to the Leafclan camp. Stormchaser ran to Rosestars' den. "Rosestar!" he yelped. She woke up with a tired

look in her eyes. "Leafclan warriors took Cloudfurs' kit and she ran after them!" he said. "We will send some warriors to retrieve these two" she said sitting down. "You show the cats where the Leafclan warriors and Cloudfur ran" she said. " The warriors i would like to come with you is Skinnypelt, Graypelt, Longclaw, and Whitefur" she said. "Go grab them and lead them to Cloudfur" she ordered wishing her tail back and forth. Stormchaser ran to the warriors' den and called out names. "Skinnypelt, Graypelt, Longclaw, and Whitefur please come with me" he said standing.
