I woke up a little late the next morning. I knew William was going to be mad at the fact he probably would have taken the kids to school.

I grabbed my clothes for the day, a simple cream dress, and hurried off to the shower.

The water stung some of the cuts I had gotten later during the night as it hit me. But it felt like heaven. William only allowed me to shower twice a week, Mondays and Fridays, so we could “save the water for the children.” I had a realization that they shared a bath together, so it shouldn’t really matter how long or how many showers I took.

I stood still in the shower for a moment and just stared up at the spurting water and asked myself why I decided to stay with William and put up with his spouts of anger.

I stayed for the children…I loved the twins so much. I could never live without them. William always seemed to make me think I had hurt them. But I knew damn well I would never hurt my babies. Never.

The water slowly began to cool down and pierce my body sharply. I shut of the shower and stepped out, wrapping a fluffy towel around my shivering body.

Slowly, I stepped over to the steamed mirror and looked into my own emerald green eyes sadly and wondered why I was so pathetic. Jesus, I was pathetic for knowing I was pathetic. I sighed and pulled out my face wash to wash my pale face.

As I washed my face, relaxed, and feeling the suds pop on my face. I heard the floor outside of the bathroom squeak.

A moment later, William barged inside the bathroom and grabbed my hair. “You selfish little bitch!” He shoved my head into the water filled sink repeatedly.

I flailed my arms about, clawing at him and kicking but he just wouldn’t drop me.

“Why can’t you do anything I say?!” he screamed at me and yanked my soaked head out of the sink and slapped me across the face, causing me to hit my head on the sink

“I’m sorry William!” I sobbed, holding my head “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.” I curled up on the floor leaning against the sink.

He kicked me “Stop saying you’re sorry!” he grabbed me again “and stand up.”

“Okay,” I muttered and slowly stood up, gripping my throbbing temple

“And how long were you in the shower for anyway?” He questioned bitterly

I shrugged limply “I’m not sure William.”

He glared at me and raised his hand. But for once he looked at me. He really looked at me. It was an Old William look. He brought his hand down, showing a mixture of pity and disgust as he looked at me. His pathetic…defeated wife.
