CHAPTER 9 ~ A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

Nothing.

Quiet.

Silence.

These are the words that best fit what's happening right now. We all sat in the living room sill wet and cold from earlier on today. Me, Ruby, Scott and Jack sat staring, watching one another’s movements. Scott and I sat on either end of the couch while Ruby and Jack took up the love seat. We've been like this for two hours straight, no one has moved and you can't even hear us breathing. We’re a bit too scared to say anything. I couldn't take it anymore the silence was killing me. Deep down I know what Jack said was true- I don't have a heart, literally. It still hurt what he said because I can't feel emotions the same as everyone else but this was and always will be a sensitive subject for me. I thought Jack knew that but apparently not.

Giving everyone one more look I stood up and walked off, Jack's voice stopped me at the doorway.

"I'm sorry Jezz I should never have said what I said," he apologised.

I stood in the doorway of the room, my back facing him; I only turned my head to see him looking at me with sadness in his eyes.

"No I'm sorry, you were right I am heartless," my voice sounded hollow and empty. Turning back I walked off up the stairs to my room, slamming the door shut with so much force that I felt the house shake.

I kicked off my shoes; I undid my dress and dropped it on the way to bathroom. Pulling my hair out it slapped against my back pushed open the door then made my way to the shower and turned it on. I waited till the room was filled with steam before I stripped my underwear and stepped in letting the water beat down on me. After cleaning myself off I looked to see my skin it was bright red. I let the water wash though me. The bathtub under me was starting to fill up.

Turning the nob, the shower went off. I slowly went down so I was sitting in the tub and leaned back till I was lying underwater. I thought back to a few hours ago.

How I lost control of my powers was confusing, that has never happened before. This could only mean one thing; they were close. I suddenly felt cold and the next thing I knew the water froze over so I was now lying in ice. I don't know how long I laid there thinking things over till I heard something move. My eyes snapped opened. I rested my hands on the ice above me before I pushed my way through the ice gasping for air. I looked around to see Ruby holding a towel out towards me.

"I thought you might want some company, Girl Company. I've got Scott and Jack to try and have some male bonding time," She mumbled wrapping the towel round me.

"Thanks you." I stepped out the bath as Ruby exited the bathroom after saying,
