Chapter 4

The next morning I reported to Peace Sectors headquarters, this time with Cage. The trip there feels mortifying as I relive the moment of shooting my own mother. I can't shake the memory, I feel as though I'll never be able to. I didn't want to go back but I know I have to. The ride into the Sector felt strenuous, my leg couldn't stop shaking, and I couldn't stop biting at my already bitten down nails. When we got to the headquarters it took all my energy to take a deep breath and head up the steps, who knows what I'd have to do this time. I noticed Cage was just as tense as I was, I just remembered we were heading into his old Sector. I remember distinctly the type of anxiety and void he had talking about his past life.

"Cage." Liam Bailey says with a huge smile, he touched Cages shoulder, he flinches. His eyes were wide, he looks scared, petrified even. I stay close to Cage, I feel the overwhelmingly need to protect him. Liam seemed to hold this power of Cage I cant explain, the tension is dense.

"I have quite the mission for you. Track down the Grayson boy." Liam commands.

"But-" Cage starts to speak but was interrupted when Liam slaps Cage across the face. My heart nearly stopped. His face was red, but he stands up tall like a statue, unaffected.

"Hey!" I shout at Liam. Immediately I shut my mouth when he turns his attention to me, I swallow hard, my heart pounding out of my chest.

"No buts, go. Now," his teeth gritted.

The way to Wisdom Sector is silent, I didn't know what to say to Cage. I'm too nervous to say anything. Before arriving into Wisdom we put on clothes I use to wear to disguise us, to blend us in. I find whole situation ironic, I'm trying to find my brother, but I already know where he is. This charade, I didn't know how much longer I could play with Cage by my side like this. What am I supposed to do when Cage finds out, do I tell him the truth, or would it be better to just tell him now?

"What's your plan?" I query.

"House to house." He doesn't even bother to look at me, maybe he's still embarrassed about being slapped, his cheek was still slightly red. He went to the first house he could find, I was nervous that he'd eventually stumble upon my house, "I'm sorry to bother you, I'm Cage and this is my sister Avery."

"Nice to meet you's. Can I help you two with anything?" says the lady on the porch, she set her knitting down and shook both our hands.

"Well we are new to this area and my father told me there are twin siblings who live around these parts, I think he said they live here?" He says smoothly.

"Do you mean the Grayson children?" The old lady asks clearly oblivious. I mentally shake my head. My palms begin to sweat.

"Yes." Cage smiles like he had just hit the jackpot.

"They live the next street over, 2943 Clifton Road." Cage nods his head and grabs my waist pulling me off the porch. "Have a good day!" She calls out as she continues back to her knitting.

"That was easy." Cage smirks, "And this is suppose to be the wisest of them all." He looks over at me. I could feel the heat of his eyes on me. I look up at him, his smile fades into a frown. "Why do you never look happy?"

I decide not to answer him, of course I'm not happy about this, we are on our way to capture my brother. I didn't have time to worry about what Cage was thinking or saying, I had to quickly come up with a plan to stop Cage from either killing or kidnapping Link.

"Wait, wait." We were nearly out the gate when the old lady called out, "The daughter, Charlotte-"

"We know, she's dead." Cage responds.
