Bella Swan; Lieutenant of Artemis

Chapter 1

          Bella's POV

              After Edwa-he, left, I tried to run after him, knowing it was pointless, but holding on to a shred of hope, that he would come back  after hearing me stumble and crash through the forest. After what felt like hours of searching, I tripped and didn't get back up. I curled into fetal position, oblivious to the world, consumed by my own thoughts and pain. I might have never gotten up again, had I not felt a drip of cold slobber on my cheek.

             I looked up, and screamed like a banshee. I scrambled backwards in terror.  Above me were three creatures that looked like something straight out of the depths of hell. They all had razor sharp teeth,  glowing red eyes, and  tangled, midnight black fur. I hit a large tree and braced myself for the worst, not really caring all that much. The biggest creature opened its mouth, and I closed my eyes. Just as I felt the Thing's teeth brush against my face,  I heard the twang of a bowstring.

              I felt the beast go taunt above me, just before it explodes into dust. As I stared at its remains in shock, 2 silver arrows whistle through the air to hit the other creatures and make them explode . A young girl,about 12 years old in appearance, with auburn hair and a silver coat, came out of the trees.

             " Thalia, set up camp deeper in the forest. I'll take care of her." orders the girl to an unseen figure hidden in the trees. The figure ran off to do as she ordered.  

        I tuck back into a ball, not really caring about what's going on around me. The 12 year old comes up to me and shakes me, as if to wake me from me stupor. She mumbled something about not being ready and something else about "poor girl, needs a clean slate".

        I wasn't paying too much attention, however, when she asked me " Do you want the pain to go away?" I started to pay attention. The girl had to ask me the question 3 more times before I fully registered it. I nodded frantically, not having the willpower to talk. She did not ask me if I wanted to reconsider, she merely placed her hands on my temples and I was swept away into darkness.

        I had a moment of fleeting consciousness, where I was cradled in a silver woman's arms. when she noticed I was awake she merely touched my forehead  and I was whisked away into the land of oblivion. 

        When I finally woke, it was to my dad, Charley, rushing down the driveway to snatch me from the woman's arms.  She didn't get offended by the action, instead offering a small smile as I turned to look at her as my dad fussed over me. 

       "Where have you been?! It's been 3 hours since I came home to find your note! The entire town is looking for you! And where is Edward??!!?" Charley continues to rant, but I interrupt him, saying," Edward, who's Edward? And for that matter, what note?" 

      Charley stops ranting and grabs me by the shoulders, looking at me like I'm insane. Before he can say anything, the woman, all but forgotten, clears her throat, and says, " I might have something to do with that. If we go inside, I can tell you all about it."
