City of Dreams - Comic Script

Character list

· Natalia – Our heroine. She is an introverted middle school girl who struggles with bullying and confidence issues in her life. She has trouble opening up to others and in general keeps to herself. She however excels artistically and has become the target of bullying by a group of girls who are pursing similar endeavors and are jealous/resentful of her talent. After bottling her emotions up for so long, she finally cracks when her artwork is ruined.

· Arwen – A man in his mid-20s. He is the leader of the band of prisoners and the mastermind behind their escape plan. While he exudes confidence and intellect, he can be somewhat overbearing and is not the best at reading social cues when others are nervous or intimidated by him.

· Raz - A friendly, happy-go-lucky sort of character. He is the second member of the prison cell and is in his late teens. He is a beacon of positivity and keeps everyone's motivations up. While he is rather friendly, his true talent is in his acting ability and being able to easily take on different personalities.

· Felin – A woman in her late 20s. She is the mature figure in the group and the voice of reason. The way she handles herself and speaks to others, it is clear she has had many experiences in her life to be able to relate to how others are feeling and knows how to speak to them.

· Roun – A grotesque monster with slight pedophilic interests. He is a big player in the casino and one that is imperative that the casino caters to his needs. Due to this he makes the perfect target in the plan to draw the manager out of his security room. And Natalia is the perfect bait to put the plan into motion.

· Image: The middle school gymnasium is filled with various painted canvases in an art-show type format. It is rather early in the morning and the scene is vacant of people aside from a group of 3 girls and Natalia. The group of girls appear like typical brats, feeling superior to others and having an air of rebellion. They are holding large paintbrushes and the leader figure is holding a gallon can of paint, the type used to paint walls. Natalia's artwork looks exceptional from what can be seen, but it has largely been painted over by the group. Natalia appears emotional but is holding back the frustration and tears, but is frozen on how to react. Natalia is also holding a letter in her hands that is from the girls telling her to come to the exhibit early.

· Text: (Girl leader) You got our invitation. I'm so glad you could make it.

· (Girl 1) You missed a spot on your painting. We did you a favor and touched it up.

· (Natalia) My piece – how could...

· Image: Natalia is dashing out of the gymnasium. The girls can be seen waving behind with a smug smile on their faces. Natalia's face is not clearly seen as she is sulking with it downwards so no one can see her face.

· Text: (Girl Leader) Hope we see you at the show later!

· Image: Natalia is riding into the lake/sea on the coast, tears are shimmering as they flutter off her face into the air as she is riding. Ahead of her a bit further into the ocean, the land seems to be rather close to the surface of the water forming a land bridge. At the other end of the land bridge is a vast city, though it is very far away.

· Text: (Natalia) All I want is to be left alone. Why... why me?

· Image: Natalia is riding along the land bridge into a dense fog. Natalia has her eyes closed bracing herself and trying to shut out her frustrations.
