Roxanne and Charlie were off to a great start before Dumbledore called the attention of the Great Hall. They were seated at the Ravenclaw bench, chatting animatedly as others greeted each other after a long summer of adventures. Charlie and Roxanne could not relate. While one was locked away in Azkaban, the other had been padded up in St. Mungo's after having a conplete mental breakdown.
There was also the fact that Charlie had been there when Roxanne had done what she did. He was completely innocent— In fact, he had been there to try and coax Roxanne out of her trance. The Ministry, however, had seen him as an accessory and promised him some jail time as well.
It seemed that Charlie was completely fine nowadays, the stupid smirk and cocky attitude he held way back, still there today. He sounded as if nothing had happened, and she was still the innocent and sarcastic girl she used to be. Of course, she was still one of those things, but it was always in a cold manner.
"So my dearest Roxanne, any problems recently?" Charlie inquired, his head on his hand as he gazed at her from the right. They were seated in the far back of the Great Hall, Roxanne not wanting to be any closer to Dumbledore than she had to be.
"In what context, my beloved? Anger, women problems, regret, sleeping?" she listed off, staring at the girl she used to call a best friend. Her and Charlie had always considered Leigha Porter one of their partners in crime, but as it turns out, she hardly seems to recognize them now. Not once had she seen Leigha bat an eye in her direction, and it was beginning to frustrate her.
"Sleeping, yes, but the other problem," Charlie emphasised, Roxanne now turning to face him with narrowed eyes.
"Not so far. Hopefully never again," she sighed, resting her head on her folded arms. Dumbledore had been talking the whole time, warning them about various things Roxanne didn't care for. She was interested in Quidditch tryouts, though. The sport had been one of the things she had been rather good at while at Hogwarts before. She had played Chaser, and had been accepted on the team during her second year.
"Roxanne Carter, do come up here. I'd like everyone to be warned about this individual," Dumbledore called to her, the girl raising her head with a scowl on her face. Charlie surpressed his laughs and put his head in his hands, Roxanne only responding by a roll of her eyes.
She couldn't lie and say she didn't think all eyes were on her, because she knew they were all on her. The only exception was Charlie who was currently trying not to break out into a fit of loud laughs. Other than that, every single person watched her as she stood up and sauntered to the front of the Great Hall.
Every professor looked at her with some sort of negative emotion; Disappointment being seen the most by Roxanne. A woman with pink everything seemed to be more interested than disappointed in her, and Roxanne felt mildly uncomfortable as she made her way to the front.
As soon as she'd stepped onto the high part where all the professors ate, Dumbledore beckoned her closer with a wave of his hand. Roxanne obeyed without a second thought, not wanting to scare people off when she could have them trust her. When they trusted her, she could do whatever she wanted without someone in her 'group' calling her out on it.
"Everyone, this is Roxanne Carter. She's known to be quite the rebel, so if you see her do one rebellious thing, alert a staff member right away," Dumbledore started, "Her friend, Charlie Donahugh is to be given the same treatment as well. Please stand, Mr. Donahugh, so everyone knows who you are."
Charlie stood up and gave the crowd a mocking salute, giggles and chuckles rippling throughout the crowd. Roxanne could've sworn she saw Harry and all his friends start laughing as well, her eyes nearly rolling out of her head at how dull their sense of humour was. She stood by Dumbeldore with a void expression, not daring to express something in front of such a big crowd.
