On My Way

This was my first time in trying to write a song back in February 2013. May have accidentally copied the rhythm of 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved' by The Script but I like to think it has some originality in it as well. As well as it possibly turning into more of a poem then a song; but it was my first time at writing one so I was still proud of it. Rip off or not I had fun writing it and imagining it being on shop shelves was a great dream. Either way you can decide for yourself and maybe sing along to it.

'On My Way' -Written By: Mark White.

I wish something would come my way,
I sit and watch out my window day by day.
Every waking moment I waited for you,
But you never came.

So I asked each and every one of them,
"Have you seen this girl today?"
They replied with the same old face,
"No I haven't Sir, so please go away."

I walked back home on that grey and black day,
Wondering if anything would come my way.
I slept in till morning, I heard a carriage arrive,
Could it be? It would be an awfully good surprise.

But then I awoke with a jolt,
It was just a dream I'm dreaming of.
I turned my head,
And there it was an empty bed.

So I asked each and every one of them,
"Have you seen this girl today?"
They replied with the same old face,
"No I haven't Sir, so please go away."

I wrote her nicely,
A letter or two,
It was only asking,
"Will I be seeing you soon?"

A few days later,
A letter returned,
It said:
"I'm sorry honey but there's something I've got to do."

So I asked each and every one of them,
"Have you seen this girl today?"
They replied with the same old face,
"No I haven't Sir, so please go away."

I guess my luck is out,
That much is true.
She said she'd see me again very soon,
I guess it's too late to wish I wasn't stuck in this same old doom.

Months went by,
I thought I saw her for a little while.
Could luck finally be on my side?
I know I no longer need this divide.

I waited a day or maybe more,
I slept in through someone knocking at my door.
After waking up I grabbed my coat,
Ran off downtown looking for her boat.

So I asked each and every one of them,
"Have you seen this girl today?"
They replied with the same old face,
"Yes Sir, she just left yesterday."
