A poem I wrote a while ago, can't remember exactly what date it was but perhaps, taking a shot in the dark, it was written around 2013 time. It's about long distance, the struggles of it and eventually the meeting of two people, breaking that distance once and for all. Ironically I'm in a long distance relationship now and have been for two months since I'm writing this, so when I dug this oldie up it hit me massively. It's only an hour and a half away but still hurts not seeing her. Anyway, I know she'll be reading this at some point. You know who you are. This is for you...
What is this I feel?
Is it a dream?
Surely such feelings don't exist in this mortal world,
This dark resting place for mankind. But there she stands,
A testament to my time on this world.
Her light guides me through each path,
Lighting the way as I go.But this light is not powered by mechanics,
Nor by the moon or sun.
This light is inside me,
Holding my hand every step I take.Although we are miles apart,
Her song of love still carries across the ocean.
Calling out to me,
For me to find her once again. So I stand on the sandy shores,
Listening intently to the waves.
Underneath my feet the waves whisper,
"I love you" as they crash down. Those whispers I follow,
Keeping them close to my heart.
So that one day I'll see her again,
One day soon. The whispers are getting closer now,
They guide me closer to her with every passing wave.
And the closer I get the more I feel it,
But then it hits me.These whispers are from my heart,
Not just the waves.
They call to her too,
And then just as fate intended. We found each other.
