"Hello is this Alice Collins?" asked the anxious woman on the phone.
"Yes and who am I speaking to?" I asked, still frustrated because Elissa refused to return my calls.
"This is the Evergreen Garden Funeral Home speaking," She stated, I was confused, I didn't have anymore family members that could've possibly died,"I'm here to tell you that... "
"What?" I was irritated.
"Do you have a friend named Elissa?" She said hesitantly.
"Uh ... Yeah? Why what's wrong?" I had so many questions.
"She died"
I stood silent for a good 20 minutes before hanging up the phone. I slowly dialed Amber's (Elissa's mom) number while the thoughts were lingering blankly in my head. I didn't know what to expect.
"Hey Amber?" I said, lost in my own thoughts.
"Alice?" She said in a weak voice.
I couldn't help it, I burst into tears. I threw the cell phone and watched as the screen cracked and flashed bright colors before shutting down completely. I sat there bawling my eyes out. I didn't attend lunch, or dinner, or breakfast, or even school. I even had a few suicidal thoughts.
I pulled myself together, she always did that for me. But she was gone.
