At around 8 the next morning, I got out of bed. Jackson was the only other person awake in the house. The only reason I could tell was my hearing was impeccable now. I arose from the bed and quietly walked to Jackson's room and knocked on the door. He came and opened it and let me in.
"How are you this morning?" I asked.
"I'm fine," he said. "I didn't have any nightmares or anything so that's good."
"Yes it is! I'm so glad you got a decent nights rest last night."
"Thanks. So," he hesitated for a moment. "What's up with that scar on your wrist? It wasn't there yesterday."
I quickly put my hands behind my back. "It's nothing."
"Sheila, don't lie to me. What is it?"
"I... You don't need to know."
"I don't need to know? What makes you think I don't need to know?"
"This is me protecting you. You don't need to know what that is or where it came from. You also can't tell anyone it's there!"
"Tell me where it came from and what it is, and I will keep your little secret safe."
My brother always was a clever one. Blackmailing me was always something he was good at even as a child.
"Fine," I said as I took in a deep breath. "It came from Lexi."
"Lexi? As in Anthony's ex girlfriend Lexi?"
"Yes, Jackson."
"What did she do? Stab you or something?"
"No... This is going to sound crazy, but, she uh... She bit me."
"Bit you?"
"Right."
"There's no way that a simple bite could leave that kind of scar. And even if it could, it would take a while to scar and like I said a minute ago. That wasn't there yesterday."
"Jackson, sweetie-"
"Don't sweetie me," he said angrily.
"There's a part of this world that you know nothing about."
"Then tell me about it."
"Lexi is a vampire."
"So, she sucked your blood?"
"No. She turned me into one."
"You're kidding, right?"
"No..."
"Why would she do that?"
"Well, first off, she thinks that Anthony loves me."
"That's obvious."
"Well, with that being said, she said I took the one thing she ever actually cared about. She wanted him to hate me, so she turned me."
"Does he hate you?"
"Of course not. I'm still the same person."
"Well, then there you go. Her plan failed."
"I'm going to go back to my room," I said as I turned the door knob. "Anthony is waking up."
"Sheila?"
"Yeah?"
"Just know that I will keep your secret safe. And I still love you too."
"I love you too little man," I said as I smiled real big.
I walked back to my room to see Anthony crawling out of bed.
