Frances' POV
HOME sweet home. Maybe not.
Nang makapasok na kami sa loob ni dad, I immediately face him.
"So, tell me dad. What's this about?"
"Just sit first. I'll just call your mom upstairs."
Hindi na ako nakapagprotesta pa dahil mabilis na siyang nakaakyat ng hagdanan. Nilibot ko ang paningin ko sa mga picture frames na nakasabit.
I was five or six years old that time. My brother wasn't born yet.
I remember when I told my dad I just want a simple celebration. But he hosted a birthday party for me. Maybe that's because he wants to brag me with his friends. I am the future heir to our construction company.
"Baby?"
I glanced over my shoulder and saw my mom behind me. She wrapped her arms around me for an embrace.
"I miss you, sweetie."
"Namiss din kita, mom."
"Are you staying for the weekend? I'm glad your dad convinced you."
You have no idea mom.
I gave her a nod and then placed the picture frame back to where it was awhile ago.
"Ehem."
My dad cleared his throat and turned to sit with us at the sofa.
"Frances, you may be wondering why we asked you to come over." Mom said.
"Actually I was."
"Anak, we've decided to prepare for your upcoming 18th birthday." Dad said.
Oh right. I'll be turning 18. For a 4th year/ grade 10 student like me, I'm a bit old. It's because I studied late when I was little. We stayed at Korea until I was six. So I started studying at seven when we came back.
"Mom, alam niyo naman na I don't like grand celebrations."
"But your debut will not only be about your birthday. We have a more important announcement that day." Mom said.
"And what is that?"
"You'll find out soon enough."Dad said.
"Mom?"
"It's a surprise. Why don't you go upstairs and greet your brother?"
"Geez."
Wala na akong magagawa. Mukhang wala talaga silang balak sabihin sakin. Kung ano man yun, sana lang hindi labag sa kalooban ko. Sana ipapakilala lang ako bilang isang Herondale or something.
I entered David's room and I saw him busy typing something on his computer.
"Dave?"
He looked up and suddenly rushed towards me for an embrace.
